Moreton In Marsh
Couldn't find the previous thread about MIM so starting a new one.
Just got back from a very pleasant week there (been before) and i really can't see what all the moaning is about. The new pods have made good use of what was a boggy the dog walk, the new dog walk is perfect as well. The site and its facilities are on a par with any other club site I have stayed at. The comments about poor pitches, too close together, shower blocks being in need of updating etc are unfounded in my opinion. All the wardens, (all three couples) keep the site very nice and are all very friendly and helpful.
Just saying it as it is in my opinion, I'll wait for the fall out now

we were there at the end of March ,and as you say Milo I couldn't see much wrong with the site , yes some of the pitch's are a bit narrow and you have to park in front of your caravan (not the end of the world),the dog walk is good .we didn't use the toilet blocks so cant comment .the fact that this site is open all year makes it difficult to carry out repairs without upsetting members
it is a site we will return to

I can agree with much of what you say on all but the configuration of many of the pitches at Moreton in Marsh. They don't compare favourably with the best sites in the network. Many of them are narrow which requires cars to be parked in front of the caravan. This can prove to be difficult to reverse onto adjacent pitches depending on size of outfit. One of the roads was deeply rutted, although I think this has now been repaired. I think since our last visit (about a month ago) they have upgraded the motorhome service point. So progress has been made. The problem is that the site would need a major upgrade to get pitches up to the standard of the best and perhaps the introduction of some serviced pitches would help. I think some question the massive cost of installing the pods and wonder why that money had not been spent on the actual site. Personally I think the Pods are a good move by the Club and I would only question which element should get the investment first.

Fair comment, but personally it really doesn't bother me if I park the car like this or down the O/S of the caravan, picture taken on our pitch near the entrance to the pods/dog walk/ and play area.

I really don't like having the car parked across the front of the caravan. On that site I have also had to move my car to give somebody sufficient room to pitch. The main point is that, for me, this site offers no real advantage over others nearby.

The Moreton site is what it is, a large site with some older type pitches in one section, if you use it a lot like we've done in the past and it's not too busy you can usually find a pitch to suit. It's perfect for visiting Moreton and there aren't any others that offer such close proximity to the town facilities. If returning I'd probably find the site felt more crowded than previously due to the addition of the pods. I liked having the open green spaces at the back of the site and these have obviously been diminished. However it's still a good place to stay and explore the area.

On most sites where you are told to park the car across the front, our van is too long to leave enough space for the car. We can only do it if the tail of the van can overhang the grass behind.
At Cirencester we had the wheels almost all the way back to the grass to leave space for the car. Not all pitches are suitable to allow you to do this.

We quite like Moreton in Marsh site, its fairly local to us. Have to agree that the pitches are too narrow though.
We are currently at Bromyard Downs where some of the pitches are also narrow, and cars have to be parked across the front of them. Luckily we are on a grass pitch and we are the only van in our section of the site.
