We are heading up to from Cumbria to Beecraigs Caravan Site at Linlithgow and wonder which route others would choose towing a caravan.

If we were still towing Nellie we'd stick to the M74/M8 the M9 as it avoids some busy towns along the route.

I just wondered about using the A74 then the A702 from Abington, through to the A720/M8/M9. I work it out as being about 18 mls shorter.

You'll be towing through Biggar and several other villages, nice route but busy on the outskirts of Edinburgh and possibly a bit slower.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We will be in no great hurry as we'll be setting off from Ecclefechan and we don't have to get to the site until 13:00 at the earliest.
