Brecon Beacons advice

I have a booking for May for at least 5 nights and just realised it's for a standard pitch with awning. There are lots of serviced pitches and wondered if there is any benefit  to these other than the service aspect ie do they have a better location / view than the standard pitches?

When we were there we used a standard hardstanding pitch and it was fine. Rather unusually this sites has almost as many serviced pitches as it does non serviced hardstandings. There are also fair few grass pitches as well. We liked the site and its a reasonably easy walk into Brecon along the canal. If it's any help some parts of the site get a lot of road noise. We chose a std awning pitch near the playing field which was quieter. We enjoyed our stay, nice walk to a good pub.  Also the canal walks in both directions, into the countryside or Brecon itself.

If I'm unfamiliar with aspects of pitching layout of a site I'm about to visit I usually look at the site plan online so, before I arrive, I know where things are as well as which pitches would possibly be sunny/near road or toilet blocks etc., and where all the serviced and/or awning pitches are located.

Thanks for the info , David's pics show what looks like a perfect site for us. Can anyone reccomend an overnight stop between Pontefract West Yorkshire  and Brecon ( it's about a 4 1/2 hour run and would like to break it up. Pete

Various routes are possible but if you are going round the south side of Birmingham the halfway point which I would use is Somers Wood Caravan Park at Meriden - but it's Adults Only .

I'd have suggested Chapel lane or Malvern if you're using club sites.

Not sure exactly what route you'll be taking. If you're in C&CC how about Kingsbury Water Park? Nice open site by canal and lakes. Or if you just want a simple stop over, can recommend Gate Farm CL near Solihull (no toilet/shower) or Woodlands Farm CL near Worcester. Hope one of those suits! smile

We have used Malvern, travelling from north Notts. A nice easy diversion off the M5, then back onto the M50 the next day.
