Official statement from the RSPB

'Time is running out'

'Nature is wonderful, but it's in the midst of a crisis. There are over 40 million fewer birds in the UK than there were 40 years ago. Shockingly, most people don't realise nature is falling silent.'

Have you noticed the decline, what's to be done? 😢

What are we doing to 'our' world?

In answer to your question, Micky, Destroying it. Homo Sapien is the most destructive creature to have lived on the planet. The only hope is that it is the only one capable of helping it. Ironic isn't it?

Sadly I have heard/seen the decline.  The exceptions seem to be Rooks, Crows, Magpies and Pigeons. Unfortunately the way I see it there needs to be the political will both in the U.K. and more importantly in Europe to stop the slaughter and reverse the process.

Just read that since the shooting season started in Malta last week 23 protected birds been slaughtered, the latest a hoopoe.  There are over 7000 hunting licenses issued for the purposes of quail shooting.

Quite  agree  Oneputt,  The  posts  about  "Netting"  recently  show  that  the 'Powers That Be '  are  more  than  willing  to  consult  with  the Environmental  Folks,  and  having  heard  what  they  have  to  say  they  then  totally  ignore  their  advice .

As  for  Political  Will  it's  more  likely  to  be  Political  Won't, Can't  and  Daren't.

Right Brian.  Not being political but when a gamekeeper over here is in court for killing Raptors the land owner should also be punished.  We may then see the end of the butchery of beautiful birds like Hen Harriers
