(but often of a totally different (better) standard) than club sites

and sadly there it is again, sites over there are betterundecided

And we should all just accept that fact and learn from itundecided

    what hubris.

but we are talking about vfm and the club providing basic facilities for medianundecided prices.

No BB you were talking about that.

I and some others were talking about sites with a similar provision to CC sites. I have considered and discounted Swiss Farm in the past, not because 'it does not effect me' (to use your words rather than mine) but because it does not match my requirements and is probably great if that is your wants but not for me thanks.

"...but we are talking about vfm and the club providing basic facilities for median  prices."

That's at least the second time you've used that expression BB (yes - you repeating yourself!). Perhaps you might explain your use of the word "basic"? undecided

Probably no pool, no bar/restraunt or drinks patio. Maybe not a fully stocked shop/mini market

Sounds just the job for us! smile

When we're away we like to get out and about and use local shops and pubs/restaurants - just the way. apparently, that many folk do "over there". I wonder what makes "over here" so different for them? undecided

Just had a look on Google earth at the Two Henley sites. I think we would also prefer the CAMC.

just done a quick calculation going from here to Florence and staying on a site near there (very good yes and very cheap at 200 euros) for two weeks in August. site fees, fuel and ferry comes in at £1500, My 18 day trip to Cromer (and surely Cromer is better, I mean the facilities and pics look the same?) will come in at £900.

we recoup all of our ferry costs in the time we are away with sites that are cheaper

I was just wondering where and how I will recoup the extra money?

What you want is apparently available at Swiss Farm. What I want is nearby. Sounds as if you and I have different desires does it not!

Swiss Farm with its holiday and long stay park homes tends to take those who cannot get into Henley club sitesurprised

"I personally see the frequent criticism of club sites as non productive/ boring and often wonder if some comments posted are done to 'fuel the fire'"

    Surely not? wink

"...a pitch, probably EHU, probably loo/shower.....this is the club basic template..."

And exactly what the many thousands who use them as a base each year are looking for. Those who want a "holiday camp" atmosphere will obviously seek out alternatives. But like many others we do not want a pool, bar/restaurant on site - we prefer to explore out and about in whichever area we are staying.

So  club sites in your opinion are on a par with the majority of any other companies sites in the UK cheaper than some and in some areas more expensive than others, and with the growing use of club sites ,seem to be what the majority of LV users want at the prices chargedwink

We are off to Rome next week, would you suggest we cancel and go to Bridlington instead?

When we were going to Flamborough North Landing the other day, the bus pulled in to Haven Thornwicke bay and did a small circuit stopping near reception. Lots of statics, some tourers, mini mall, bars, fast food outlets. Out of season very reasonable, if you book far enough in advance, out of peak, you can get down to £8 a night for a hardstanding  with electric. Clearly not cost effective at that price and being subsidised  by the other things on site plus the £47 charged in peak. That was with a 20% discount. Possibly struggling to sell them 😂

I know you don't have to use the bars, entertainment etc and in certain circumstances we might consider staying off peak. However, in general We will go with CAMC basic.😉

You could be right, I suppose Rome is full of derelict, semi demolished buildings.
