High density foam or sprung
Looking at having new foam put into out seating on our 2017 elddis 554 affinity. After having it replaced 3 times under warranty with Leisure furnishings and not happy with them just replacing like for like I’ve had a price from Belfields furnishings for having just the bases done as we don’t use it as a bed. For around £200 I can either have high density foam or have it sprung both the same price. Just wondering what other people’s thoughts are.

I have a Lunar Clubman; as was my previous caravan. There are two reasons for this. The length of front seats that we use as two singles and the sprung seating. I was thinking recently that if we chose a different manufacturer I would include the cost of having the seating changed to sprung in my deliberations. I would also be happy to use Bellafield to do so.

Like you my last 2 previous caravans have been sprung one being a Lunar and one Bailey and also they were very comfortable so by the look of things and also with Coachman going back to sprung in the pastiche which I tried out at the NEC show I think that should be the way to go.

I had exactly the same issue with our U3 Barcelona but didn't bother with pursuing the warranty claim because I knew it wouldn't make any difference. Paid an upholsterer to replace the foam with high density foam and it transformed the seating. Cost was £250 for the two seat bases, so your quote looks good. The only down side re the foam is that it is very much heavier than the original - if payload is an issue for you.
Our new van - Knaus Starclass has sprung seating and leather upholstery which is very comfortable if a bit on the firm side. On balance, my inclination would be towards good quality foam.
