Sites with fishing: dogs allowed by waterside?

My husband likes to fish and our dog loves to watch him.  She is well behaved (sort of), hates getting wet so jumping in the water isn’t a problem but all the sites we found with on-site fishing say ‘no dogs by the fishing ponds’ whether on lead or off.

We know of a lovely site near Comberbatch, Cheshire but fancy a change so can anyone recommend anywhere please?  Preferably within an hour or so from Manchester (Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire etc).

If he goes fishing and leaves her with me at the Motorhomes she spends hours gazing longingly down towards the pond.

AnnB, there are 151 CLs that list having a fishing lake on site, where dogs are allowed and have EHU. Perhaps there are a few in there that would suit you. There is no icon on the club site list where one can search for those with fishing on site.

    Thanks both of you.

Have looked at CLs, in fact the fishing site we do use was once a CS for the other club but is now independent.

I have searched using the UK Campsites webpage but will also try the search facility on here.

Have a look at Wagtail country park (Afiliated site) a little further than you stated being near Grantham but it ticks all the boxes and has fantastic fishing and you can book a pitch looking out on to the lake. Also has a much more relaxed atmosphere than a club site cool

Did you mean there is a search for fishing on site? There are 151 sites with EHU, Dogs Welcome and Fishing on site.

This one has CS pitches and CL as well. Although the CC page says no children the site website says well behaved children allowed. Hard standing and looks worth a look.

ET, as I said the Club Site list has no icon for "Fishing on Site" whereas on the CL site list there is an icon for it. In the first sentence of my post I did say that there were 151 CLs with Fishing on Site. Hope that make it plain.

    From experience:

Townsend Touring & Camping Park, Leominster

Little Ranch Leisure Caravan And Camping Site, Wisbech

    Wigmore Lakes, Shrewsbury

    Fernwood Caravan Park , Ellesmere

    Springwater Lakes, Llanwrda

All tried and tested dog friendly, good fishing (dogs allowed on the bank), good sites. Some a bit further than you may want but the bottom 3 are an easy pull for you. Wigmore and Springwater are proper fishery and have really good fishing.Fernwood is lovely site and fishing is OK.

What kind of fishing? I know of several fly fishing sites where you can pitch the van near to lake and as long as your dog is under control it can be bank side with you. My friend takes his gun dogs, spaniels, with him and they seem to enjoy the fishing as much as he does. In fact fellow anglers wouldn't really know they were with him at all.

Thanks.  Will look up the Ellesmere one, that’s within our travel range.

Unfortunately we can’t travel too far because of caring duties for elderly parent.

Thanks Micky.  He does both sorts but not as good at fly fishing (he doesn’t read this so I’m safe wink).

Would be interested in knowing any in Lancs, Cheshire or Yorkshire.

The Camping Club site at St Neots has recently been refurbished and meets with the fishing and dogs requirements.
