Easter is two weeks away and the Club are having to tout for business. Tells you all you want to know about pricing policy.

When looking at late availability that does not seem the case for the majority of sites over easter, except for the west country which has always been the case

Look at the weekend of the Easter holidays in late availability to see the reality.

In the whole of the Cotswold you'll find 10 pitches free, In East Anglia apart from Ferry meadows you get 6 pitches, none in the Lake district  and 3 free pitches in the peak district.

Seacroft, one of the most expensive sites is fully booked for half of April and May.

    What does that tell you?

I can't really interpret the OP as the club "touting for business"! undecided

As already mentioned, the late availability pages show that the majority of club sites away from the extreme south west and north are going to be pretty busy and, I'd hazard to guess, busier than many of the competition.

However, it won't be including us! wink

I am sure the purpose of Rowena's post was just to point out that there is availability over Easter for those still looking. We tend to avoid Bank Holidays but for many they are a good opportunity to get away for a slightly longer break and Easter has the benefit two "holiday" days. We all know that peak prices are always higher and there is little prospect that it will change.

As we are now retried we avoid the bank and kids holidays times, we are happier to go out at off peak times and leave the spaces for those who are working and have children.

Which on club sites is probably cheaper than a lot of commercials who do loss leaders for us "oldies" off peak

We are not going out over Easter period but if we were it would be either a CL or the C&CC sites in Scotland, where there isn't an increase in costs to high season.

We were booked into Chatsworth in April but unfortunately our westie isn't very well & have cancelled  , new medication may give him a chance but we don't hold out much hope .

We hoped he could go on for a little longer this summer at least  , some of our favourite sites are booked & he loves the beach at Brancaster when we're at Sandringham .

His health & well being  comes first regardless of how we feel .....it's very sad .👍

Feel for you, C. Always a difficult time. Our old boy George starting fitting when we were away at Hawes a few years back. Very frightening at the time but thanks to quick thinking by a local vet he went on to enjoy an extra few years caravanning with us. Will be thinking of you - let us know how things go.

Don't do Easter caravanning, too many idiots out on the roads. There's all the rest of the year to go at.

That is why I travel out before the break and don't come back until after. I'll be on site before and after any mad dash. It also gives you a wider choice of pitches.

We were due at Chatsworth last week but had to cancel due to a death in the family, the nightly rate was £25.60

We were intending to re book for the end of this week but the nightly rate has now shot up to £36.40 !

Needless to say we will not be going now.

This to me is an extortionate amount for what is an average caravan site that is in need of updating.

And yet Chatsworth is showing no availability for Easter weekend! We wouldn't pay that amount but there are plenty who will and that is all the club needs to justify those prices, surely?

If you are not happy look for an alternative. No problem really. Either pay or look elsewhere. If we wanted to be there at that time we would pay or look elsewhere. There are cheaper sites nearby if not full.

We’ll also be adding to the Easter idiot count.  The only bank holidays we go away are Easter and the end of May.  We can’t normally do weekends because OH doesn’t get home from work until 7.30pm (later if the trains are up the creek), so it’s not worth us going away on Saturday & coming home Sunday.  Other than that we’d only get 5 weeks away in the caravan in a year.
