Lack of Spaces in Mid Wales
Just come back through Mid Wales (A470). The C& CC site in Rhyader now appears to have changed hands and looking like being developed as a static site. The same thing happened to the CC site at Doldowlodd a few years back. There appears to be no touring site in the Mid Wales area now ( May be commercials). The Red Kite touring site opened last year at LLanidloes is already 4/5 full with seasonal vans. Be aware if you are touring that pitches may be at a premium once you leave Brecon and before LLanbrynmair. The Cl network is also fairly sparse in the area.

The map search facility on UKCampsite.co.uk is helpful in showing all sort of sites in this area.

We used the Red Kite site a coupe of years ago with no problems. It is a touring park and as far as I could see there were only a few pitches on the top leve that seemed to be seasonal

I wonder if that will change in years to come a people realise the Severn crossing tolls are abolished.

As an ex Caravanner originally from Hertfordshire, can say that folk dont know what they are missing if the havent toured in Wales. But having chosen to live there I am a bit biased.
Only other place that comes anywhere near is the Western Isles of Scotland and we dont have the midges. Both of the Clubs sites CMC and C&CC near to me in North Pembrokeshire leave a bit to be desired, mostly grass pitches (all in the case of the CAMC site) and soft after a rainy period. Beautiful spot though with lovely views across to Ramsey Island. Should of course be a 100% Hard Standing site, and be open all year. There is plenty going on in St Davids over Christmas. IMHO of course.

We left the Red Kite touring park 2 days ago, and although there were some seasonal vans there it was nothing like 4/5 full of them.
Whilst we were there lots of tourers were coming and going and there was plenty of space.
What a fantastic site, all pitches are serviced and the facilities were second to none. Also there is a superb indoor dog wash, with a dryer!
A superb site for visiting a lovely area.

interesting comment PD, how is the cost attractive? Bank Holidays £34 per night ( 4 night min at Easter, 3 nights all other bank holidays )
Otherwise it is £30 per night in a peak season that lasts from 1st May to 30th September, then £28 per night at other all other times.
You do get one dog free but another dog is £1 per night, extra adult is £6 (max of four to a party)
Also there is a 50% non refundable deposit payable on booking. and if you leave early there is no refund what so ever! Pay by credit card and you incur a 2.5% surcharge.
Is this really your idea price being attractive?
The structure being attractive to you is curious too?
Not much different from a club site?
I notice that it has similar pitching regulations, pitch to the bollard but your door has to face the pitch - very old fashioned and regimented restrictive compared to a club site?.
The arrival and departures times are similar (slightly worse to most club sites as arrival is at 1pm).
I suppose the main differences that could be attractive to you (one) is that if your pet misbehaves you are thrown off that day and no refund, actually it says you have to remove your pet, I assume the non offending pet can stay as can their owners?
And they still have mops and buckets in the showers!
Is it being AO that you like? (fair enough)
So an interesting comment saying it is attractive to you on both count from my perspective.

Uk campsites alone is showing 35 sites in Ceredigion, and another 135 sites in Powys. I didn’t look at any exact sites, but I do know we had no problem touring in North, South or indeed central Wales. If you want solely Club Sites then yes, much more of an issue, but then so are a few other locations very popular with tourists, such as Hadrians Wall area.
We were in South Wales a couple of years ago, three weeks in September. It was extremely busy, full of tourists. Despite torrential rain every single day. We had put together a North Wales tour for Spring as well, with lots of suggestions from folks on here. The weather was the main factor that put us off, we waited a couple of weeks and did Dales instead. Looking at a cottage in Wales for May though, fabulous place.

Having stayed there perhaps I can help. The pricing structure was ok as its the perfect location where we wanted to be. The site is terraced so you get a view. When you book you can choose the pitch that you want. All pitches are fully serviced. The bathrooms and other facilities are very good. We were at the top of the site, second row, so had good wifi viability whereas further down the site it wasn't as good. I would definitely return.
PS I've stayed on a CL that cost £27/night so yes Red Kite is good value.

A polite reminder, please can I ask everyone to keep this discussion on track and free from arguments. Many thanks.

as I have tried to say many times, what people pay and their choice is their personal choice. Club sites are usually below very much £34 per night at bank holidays or £28 off peak as charged here. So I disagree it is good value compared to a club site

No, rayjsj, it's gone back to being a N/T run site only. Another site lost from the club's list!!
You can find it here.
