in answer to Frank Ledger magazine issue April 2019, my husband had to have his leg amputated last March and was determined to continue caravaning our first trip was in the April when we arrived at the site l set up the van ready for him l pushed his wheel chair right up to the door he literally crawled in and used the side seats to get up onto the seats, to move up and down the caravan we bought a stool which had four wheels he sat on it and with his good leg and the sides he moved up and down, he now has a false leg and can manage most of the time up and down the steps although we are thinking of replacing the steps with a ones ghost have a railing attached to them, l hope this has helped and given you encouragement.

Thank you for your post but the Story Section isn't the best place to put it.  I've moved it here where more people are likely to see it.

I love these never say die attitudes. If live deals you a bad hand get up and give life a good kicking (with your good leg!) and keep on living as best you can. Great post and good luck with your travels.

Good luck to you and your husband, a can do attitude will certainly help you both adapt to 'new ways of working'.

The phrase in quotes was oft quoted in my working days and I never thought I'd have the need to use in retired life 😂😂😂. Actually made me shudder as I recalled it! In the working context it was usually some hairbrained idea thought up by someone without knowledge and quietly dropped without reference, but for you it  will be for a real purpose 😉.

Long may you continue with all your hobbies and maybe discover new ones.

Great to hear that you are managing to cope.  Well done, and all the best with it all.

Thank you to all who have responded. It is very encouraging.

It causes me to suggest that the club should consider producing a booklet on disabled caravanning

A  booklet  might  well  be  helpful  to  many,  BUT,  as  Bakers2  has  pointed  out,  the  attempts  by  "Well  Meaning"  folks  may  well  be  harebrained.  Now  should  dis-abled,  differently  abled,  handicapped  or  whatever  they  are,  or  wish  to  be,  called  start  the  ball  rolling  from  THEIR  view  point  then  it  just  might  be  worth  following  up.
