Done the break a way cable one that makes a good bang and driven off with the handbrake on on my very first outing. Also unhitching and forgetting the multi plug.

Plus on the Sat Nav side of things sometimes even the route recommended by the club and the campsite may still not even be the best route.... DO YOUR HOMEWORK especially if your driving something like an RV, they will try to bring you in on a route that will avoid towns and villages but passable with a caravan you may well be better off going a couple of miles further and finding a more direct way, like if going Abbey Woods the Sat nav may try to take you by the Woolwich Ferry the clubs way will take you by Bexleyheath and Crook Log junction but a better way is via the signs to Erith from the dartford crossing and the A206 then follow the A2041 signs this way is all duel-carriage and main road almost right up to the camp site. Walk it though on Google maps first.....

    Chrisally

IMO you made the right decision to about turn at Kettlewell. At little further on north of Buckden the road climbs 300 feet and is very steep.
