Have you seen the 43 reviews of it on the site details?

Hi munro21, it's an excellent site with excellent facilities. It's an all year round site and as such, has under floor heating in toilet / shower block . The site is immaculate and very well looked after. It's always quiet and peaceful when we've been, even when it's busy. 5 minutes into town, where there a choice of pubs, shops and eateries.  It's also good for visiting the surrounding areas, eg Aviemore. We highly recommed it. It can be expensive though. Cheers, Alex.

Lovely site short walk to town very nice shops, bars and reasturants, there was a back street pub that served only homemade pies to die for. If pies are your thing.

    enjoy

We have stayed on several occasions for a week or more, in May and September. As stated by others the site is immaculate and has been peaceful at the times we have visited. We have always booked a service pitch. These are large and come with a satellite dish you can plug into. They did  lend out a satellite box, if you didn't have your own, no idea if this is still the case. WiFi was excellent and included in the cost of a service pitch. There are several good walks that can be done directly from the site, or catching a bus from the town. Grantown also had good food shops, for replenishing supplies. It will therefore remain firmly on our list, especially now we have a MH.

Been reading some reviews on the as site as well as the replies, (thanks).  Everybody seems to say that it is a very nice site and one that they would go back to.  I was wondering, on arrival is your pitch already allocated, if so if you wish to change for some reason can you?

They did allocate and lead us to our pitch on a bike. We were very happy on each occasion so never asked about changing.  Probably best to ring the site, although I wouldn’t have thought there would be a problem if an alternative was available. Although when we went in September we were given the last service pitch, so changing wouldn’t have been an option.

Hi munro21, we usually choose our pitch when we book, from the site map on the website. But I'm sure if you did this and wanted to swap once you'd arrived, that it wouldn't be a problem,  if it was available. We've always found reception very helpful. We've had to cancel once and move pitch once due to snow and ice. Both times, no problem. Cheers, Alex.

TBH we hated it, not due to the site itself but other campers.

Great facilities, nice town, great area - however - we were allocated a pitch in the silver area which was full of families, and next to the tented area which again was full of families.

Majority of kids well behaved but a number were running riot, bikes in between caravans and cars using the space as short cuts between areas, washrooms flooded on a number of occasions due to taps being left on and the parent showed no interest whatsoever, despite wardens having a word. Indeed parents started wandering through the gaps on pitches claiming it was a shortcut to facilities - and were not to happy when advised otherwise

Some people relocated as other pitches became available, some actually left the site early.

Worst thing was the wardens had been advised by management company that the were not to eject those causing problems.

If I did return it would only be to the north end of the park and defo not on school holidays!!

We had a similar experience to Solobay when we visited in June last year. Had three very pleasant and peaceful days, then Friday evening came. We were in the gold area on pitch 18. We had several children on bikes riding along the top of the raised banks as an off road course. When politely asked not to do so, they told their fathers who promptly got their bikes and did the same. We again asked them not to do so as if they lost control they could have caused a lot of damage to our car and caravan. We were then subjected to nasty comments, stares and jeers every time we were seen by these families. There were several groups nearby who were away for drinking/partying weekend which continued very late into the evening. The wardens advised us it was not the policy to confront anyone causing a problem. We will stay there again but never at a weekend.

There are several sites that I would not choose to be on at a summer weekend.

Yip owners really need to put in some strategic fences to stop the raised banks being a play ground

We got the stares etc but being over 6ft and a big lad they didn't come near us!!

By contrast we had a couple of vans with kids playing water balloons - great fun and the parents had them pick up every single bit of the exploded balloons before the next battle commenced

"The wardens advised us it was not the policy to confront anyone causing a problem". - not what you want to hear from wardens that are ment to be looking after the site IMHO!!

If wardens are not able to confront trouble makers and enforce the rules then what the hell is going on with the Club management?!   Completely unnacceptable.

The wardens are not CAMC wardens as it’s an Affiliated site.

It’s not a club site so nothing to do with club management.

As an alternative and apart from the C & Cc site at Loch Morlich the Rothhiemurcus Estate site is pleasant and is within walking distance of Aviemore. Lovely estate walks too.

Thank you all for your replies, it seems that while it is a nice site, good facilities, it is not a quite site.  Will not be using this site and will be looking else where. Thanks

A bit further up in Aberlour is this one - newly refurbished, quiet, away from main roads - and bang in the middle of malt country!

Not since it has been revamped as it only opened last week - but I have stayed on it before - in a walled garden about mile off main road so very quiet, even has red squirrels. Aberlour has CoOp, couple pubs, deli's and restuarants.

Site was taken over just before we arrived and the new owners basically rebuilt all the facilities, Showers, even underfloor heating - new office, play area for kids and heavy duty pruning of hedges etc

Friendly with a guy who is there several times a year and even got a sneaky weekend before it opened.

Central for the Speyside malt distilleries, plus plenty other places an easy day drive.
