Hi,  Would love to visit Bakewell this year.  We have a motorhome but once pitched up we don't then travel in the MH.  Can you recommend a site nearby with good public transport?  Can't walk too far so more than 20 mins walking would be out.

Thanks.

If you stay at Chatsworth CAMC site there are buses from both Baslow and the house itself into Bakewell. The stops are both about a mile each way on  good tracks / roads through the park. Depending how long you are staying, if not moving the MH you would have to stock up on your trip to Bakewell as there are no shops nearbye. However, the lunches / teas available at the house are good and reasonably priced.

Have you thought about Chatsworth? You will have to walk into Baslow which is a pleasant walk through the estate to the village. Apparently there is an hourly bus service between the two places. http://www.hulleys-of-baslow.co.uk/Timetable%20170%20May18.pdf

We often stay at Chatsworth, lovely site but due to the access road you have to be gone by 12noon (no chance of late check out) so we drive to Bakewell in the motorhome as there is an excellent car park plenty of room with designated motorhome spaces and an easy walk into Bakewell.  Lovely for an afternoon with lots of good cafes, restaurants and pubs to get lunch

You could use the CL at Old Brampton, Priestfield Grange, No.332 in the Site Directory. It's the same bus that goes past the Chatsworth site, and you can flag it down opposite the site entrance. You can also catch the bus going in the opposite direction into Chesterfield at the entrance too.

You can take a taxi into Buxton bus station for about £5 from Grin Low, Buxton site and then enjoy a journey from there to Bakewell. People with Motorhomes often use the local taxis to or from that site.

There is a bus service from Castleton to Bakewell, so the Castleton site is another option.
