I looked at 3 or 4 nights at Bladon Chains for part of a trip in March and decided against it at £22.40. I also couldn't believe that price in March. As for a non-EHU pitch, I did look at that as we don't need it for a few nights, but guess what? None available in March or April. Presumably these are on grass? Although I'd have expected grass pitches to be in use in April. Yet the price grid quotes the non-EHU price for the period of March and April at £1.50.
No use advertising the non-EHU pitches if you can't get one!

Anyone who intends using primarily Club Sites needs to contact Club and ask for a prices booklet to be sent out. It’s all in there, every possible pricing conundrum the Club can dream up. Shame so many of the sites remain closed until mid March.
Membership is sadly getting less value for money each year as far as we are concerned. It’s still the access to CL network that keeps us paying up, little else nowadays.

On looking, the non electric pitches seem only to be available from the beginning of May till the end of September, so the £8 pitch would never be available.
Now that is surely false advertising!
And the site plan shows only one economy pitch, but shows it as a hardstanding on the pitch guide but grass on the plan.

We've stayed there, enjoyed being on the grass as the mats gave us confidence. We were opposite the single non ehu pitch, a small strip along side the field fence, not the best of pitches and the site was very busy so it was in use. At least we were away from the worst of the road noise. We were en route for East Anglia and it was easy to book for a short two night wander round the area. The site is well placed for overnight and longer stays.
We're doing an overnight at Knaresborough later this year, very expensive but it's convenient and although I could hunt around for a CL it will suit us for the purpose and we can get a meal after a long drive from the SW.
What I will be doing this more often this year, if all goes well, is to look for better prices but sometimes like you convenience takes precedence.

Whilst like everyone else I like a bargain, I do think that some want something for nothing. The sites have to turn a profit, and more folk are likely to be looking for a pitch in mid March than in February. Hence prices are going to be higher.
I just checked our local site Clumber and the price for two, weekend / midweek from January to 14th March is £20 / £16.70. From then through to Easter peak £23.40 / £19.50.
The site is almost always totally full at weekends, even in the winter months. I think they have the pricing, certainly through this period, at a fair and reasonable level.

I think the discussion here is not so much about the level of prices overall, but the misleading price given for Bladon Chains, a price which according to the Club's own website is not actually bookable.
The actual bookable price on the sole grass non EHU pitch is £8.90 for one adult. And this is only available on one night.....30th September 2019.

Of course people don't want something for nothing. What an offensive remark.
Whilst perhaps not wanting to pay anything. Many of the posts have indicated that they think the prices are OTT. I would contend they are realistic. If the club set them at the levels that some members would like, they would indeed have to provide something for nothing.

I totally agree on the ridiculous lowest price. Particularly when it is only available for a fraction of the year. If they are going to show anything it should be for a standard pitch / 2 adults and show lowest / highest. Clumber would show as £16.7 / £34.2.

But surly if you find it overpriced there are other cheaper sites nearby? Why not use those?

A site has to be in a very special location for us to pay more than £25. Any provider that charges more than that will not get our custom. We find alternatives. Sometimes it is camping club, or CLs or no facilities sites or private sites. Perhaps I am in a minority. We have a very expensive van, it cost a lot, and is not cheap to maintain either, but was bought with an inheritance, our actual income is not far away from the minimum wage. 🙁 This will improve when we both get state pension. ☺️

Club Sites are probably not overpriced given how the Clubs pricing policy seems to operate, and in comparison to other similar sites in UK. They are partly a product of what the membership now decides it wants before it heads off for an “adventure”, ie HS, toilet and shower blocks, hook ups, service pitches etc.... All this comes at extra costs. Add in the usual rapacious trend for holiday providers in UK to ramp up prices over school holidays, and there you have it. Some thought has been given to family members in certain offers around children, and there are still some Sites on the network that are very good value if you don’t require all the extras mentioned above, for £15 per night.
Touring has changed greatly nowadays. No use old timers like us grumbling about Club fees, it’s a big business, caters for a different clientele in the main. You either go with it if taken as a whole you are getting value for money, or you don’t. Unlike other things in life, this one isn’t compulsory.
