Route advice to Gairloch
in a couple of months we are heading for Gairloch (Wester Ross) with our t/a Caravan. I know the area well and the route options from Inverness however this will be the first time with the van in tow. Any advice as to which is the best route when heading across from inverness? The two options being heading across towards Ullapool and left down the Destitution Road to Aulbea, Poolewe etc. Or, turn left earlier and go via Achnasheen and Kinlochewe. I know there is very little single track left on the latter option (I think a short stretch just south of Gairloch) and much of the road is relatively new.

I'd suggest the latter route through Kinlochewe as most of the route is double track. The only narrow section is that down the side of Loch Maree.

I know the second route and we had no problem towing on it but it seems a bit strange that you need to ask, FC, as you say you know the area and route options. 🤔

Thanks nellie, it is the route i had in mind. With one exception all my visits to the area were in pre-caravanning days (and that visit was sans caravan) so i wasn’t thinking about the roads in terms of towing a long caravan. I am not a nervous or inexperienced tower and simply thought there may be members on here who have driven both whilst towing and could advise which is the better.....

Thanks for the replies - unfortunately I am due in hospital around Easter for gallbladder removal so suspect we are not going, or at least not until later in the year. Disappointing as the Edinburgh part of our trip was to take in my sisters silver wedding anniversary.
