So, here's the thing.
Now I'm hearing that, if I just went ahead and did 'my thing', I'd get an audience who generally liked what I did, There's bound to be some moans and groans, I anticipate that, but overall most would enjoy it. Is that what I'm hearing?
The phrase 'not too loud' is very open to debate. one person's view of loud is that he can hear it from 200 miles away. Another's might be that he can't hear it from 3 feet away. It's all very subjective innit?

Don't think many would hear at 200 miles away! I was sat in the shade at Henley on Thames after a hot days walking. I was wondering what the noise was that I could hear. Just curious as it was a natural sound. It turned out to be a couple of young rabbits behind a van some 3 pitches away. They were feeding on grass and the sound was them tearing the grass.
but overall most would enjoy it. Is that what I'm hearing?

Me ? Selective? I'm merely trying to make some sense of the replies I'm reading. I hear what the users are saying, but there are conflicting attitudes to my proposal.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your new caravan. As you say you're not going away 'til March maybe using it at home would be an idea ensuring everything works as it should. Any problems encountered can then be sorted before your time away. Perhaps HO would be able to answer your question about club rules & your proposed 'social event'. Hope the handover goes well. I doubt any such discussion will ever be much help, BE, because only a very tiny proportion of the membership use this forum and, in my view, we’re not a representative bunch.
Give us some clues. What sort of music are you talking about and would it be live or recorded? I remember a guy strumming his guitar in his awning at Dunnet Bay and it was very pleasant. 👍🏻

Busyelf, my post and my enjoyment to the music I heard was the odd camper(s) that 'happened' to strike up a bit of music individually or got together for an hours light entertainment, wouldn't please all but I enjoyed it and had the choice not to listen.
Now if you are talking of being a DJ and broadcasting your your kind of music rather than playing an instrument, then count me out.

You would probably be free of complaints at Gatwick CAMC site. It's the only site we have visited where you can have your TV turned up to full and nobody notices.🛬🛫😂

I think I can remember three occasions on club sites where I heard impromptu music. Bagpipes in Scotland, very nice, well played and just a few short lilting sessions. A group of twenty somethings who had borrowed Dad's van for a bank holiday in Yorks, terrible out of tune guitars and voices plus the clinking of a lot of bottles into the adjacent bottle bin. New Year in Wales and acoustic guitar in an awning, not too bad but not good either.
So do I want to hear other peoples music on a club site, even if they "think" they are good, probably not and I'm the Mum of a noisy cow punk fiddle player!

now you will appreciate why the other club advertise themselves as "The Friendly Club".
I have been on a few sites, "Woodovis" near Tavistock, being one, where they hire entertainers who perform for a couple of hours in the evening, mainly for children, but i thought it was a splendid idea, of course it is not a CAMHC site.

Friendly, smiley, welcoming, none confrontational, not controlling. I found most folk on site generally good fun👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊
PS-I also never found a bad warden either.

I can just about find my way around a guitar and wife plays trumpet. if that's any use. However, I was thinking of a a show of recorded music, Rock n Roll perhaps or even some classical stuff. I don't EVER play cRAP music.
Beethoven's Pastoral symphony No 6 would be idyllic would it not?
Alternatively, you could take up EasyT's suggestion and pay me a quid to play it Far away, that way I could fund even more trips away. ( big smile).
For the Organ enthusiasts, there's always the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as an alarm call.
Also, i'm open to requests so if there's anything in particular you wanted to hear, I'd probably have it. 'The Sound of Silence' perhaps? lol

During my working life I did regular Night duty and one Sunday morning, after a particularly gruelling shift, I was looking forward to a peaceful,relaxing sleep. I was just climbing into bed when the local Working Men's Club was holding it's Marching Band Championship event.
Trying to count sheep to the beat Colonel Bogie was an impossible task. I just had to grin and bear it till it was all over.
The organisers said it was well published in advance but I hadn't seen it. It wasn't on any TV or radio station that I know of, and I don't believe everything I read in the papers, and to be honest I'm not a great fan of Marching Bands.
So yes, I'll agree that 'one mans RAP can be someone else's cRAP'.

OK, So now I have chance to 'try out' our new van, we have had a few issues.
1. A panel in the wardrobe came adrift.
2. The radio didn't work as expected.
3. the awning was impossible to put up on my own.
Back to the dealers... They sorted out the panel in the wardrobe, The radio requires a new antanae (ariel?) which has to come from the suppliers to Swift.
Awning-wise, I had a chat to guy from the Awning dept and we came to an agreement that I'd get a full refund on the Bedroom Annex and a really good price for the, now second-hand, Awning. altogether this would more than cover the cost of a brand new Kampa Air Pro 260 Plus with Tall Annex inflatable Awning.
So Off we went to Carsington Water for a weekend trying it all out.
I put up the awning while the lady wife made tea and coffee. and we sat amongst all the tissue paper from the unpacking process and enjoyed the view outside our Caravan extension. We both agreed that this was now suitable for our needs.

Glad everything worked out for you. I collect a new van in the 25th of April and wonder what I shall find. That shows you the state of QC in the caravan manufacturing sector if I’m thinking like that doesn’t it? I hope to be sitting outside my new purchase in May - hopefully not thinking about getting it back to the dealers!

After the ease of Lockdown restrictions we booked a week at Cleethorpes, (non CAMC site) and I managed to do a live show/broadcast from my Van. No complaints from the neighbors or warden there. so then we went to Kessingland Beach where there was,Wi-Fi but was totally useless for broadcasting. so didn't do a show/broadcast from there. However the other 'vanners around me were mostly younger folk with young families, so might have been an ideal opportunity to give it a shot. Oh well perhaps another time.

Busy. Glad you have sorted out the problems with your new caravan. We go on holiday for peace and quiet, if we wanted a 'lively' site with entertainment (ie music) we would select accordingly. I am a lover of a wide range of music; indeed I sing in 2 choirs the larger singing anything from Mozart's Requiem' to Beatles hits and in the past was a member of Amateur Operatic Societies. However, as much as I respect anyone's choice of music they should not inflict in on others who may not appreciate it. May I simply refer you to The Caravan Code on pages 657/658 of the Club Handbook; in particular section i - 'Respect the privacy and peace of others at all times by keeping to a minimum mechanical, instrumental or vocal noise'.
When the children were young and we used to tow to S of France/Spain and to keep them occupied we split the choice of tapes to 4 x half hourly sessions. 'Annie' was daughters favourite, 'Queen' sons, Simon and Garfunkle my wife's and mine was that all time favourite Peace and Quite for 30 mins! Nowadays, when we turn the TV or radio on in the evening, my wife goes outside to ensure it cannot be heard!
