No knowledge of Goose VPN but have used Norton for years on all of our computers without issue both at home and abroad. Have a look at the Techradar review here. https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/goose-vpn

Also looking at Goose for 2019 via the club..but not fully convinced yet, upload is slower. Am still researching but can definitely recommend Express VPN.....DL & UP speeds are constant throughout. Connection to their servers are v/good at an average of 10 secs...(location dependant)
Both allow access to Netflix, iPlayer etc...can be used by a smart tv..
My understanding of the Goose offer is a minimum of 18 mnth (?) contract

Never heard of VPN before. What is it and why might I want one?

Thanks David, but what I really wanted to know was why would I want it. Reading your link doesn't really answer that question. Most of it is just gibberish as far as I can see. I will admit to being a dinosaur as far as computing is concerned.

You probably don't? It offers an extra layer of security when using public wifi services as it encrypts what is being sent over the internet. If you use a mobile phone network to send data it does the same. Providing you have a reliable internet security on your computer/device you should be protected. That is what I have done for many years and thus far not had any problems. I am increasingly using my Smart Phone for the likes of internet banking as not only is it quicker and easier you have the extra layer of encrypted transmission that mobile data offers.

Thanks David. Just the sort of answer I was after.

I bought goose vpn as a result of the CAMC advert in the magazine and am currently in a dispute with them with my credit card company. Beware with goosevpn you cannot access BBCiplayer, the ITV hub or channel 4

As my previous post.... not impressed!! Through some review comments I found online, it quickly became apparent that Goose VPN had a problem with iPlayer etc. It is well known in the industry that UK broadcasters continually wage war on VPN providers which in turn requires them to continually upgrade their servers.... I’m staying with Express VPN.

I am not an expert in such things but my understanding is that when you travel abroad your computer will log in via local networks, meaning you no longer have access to sites which have geographic restrictions, ie can only by viewed in the UK. Having a UK VPN 'tricks' your search engine into thinking you are still in the UK.
Now someone who knows what they're talking about can correct me.

Correct....but the BBC and ITV are constantly playing 'cat and mouse' with VPN providers and are in some cases successfully blocking them. See link below. Some VPN's are better than others at keeping ahead of the game...

In the past we’ve used several VPN’s all without a problem we’re off back to Spain again this year so when I saw goose advertised in the magazine I thought why not! wrong decision still fighting for my money back. I’ve contacted the CAMC and made them aware but it’s still being advertised I would imagine most campers only want a vpn for watching BBC etc

We signed up for Goose as we were going to spend several months in Spain. The camp site wifi is pretty good but an open network so we wanted the additional security of a VPN. Also, we wanted to be able to access BBCiplayer etc whilst abroad.
We are VERY disappointed with Goose as the BBC and Netflix are blocked. Also, connecting to one of their servers was extremly hit and miss, more often miss!
In the end, to avoid the frustration of trying to connect we have signed up with another VPN provider, which seems to be quick and efficient (so far). Going with the CMC offer was a bad move - but you live and learn!
