I didn't realise that you were trying to be funny! That's probably because I didn't find the comment amusing in the slightest. It just seemed like an irrelevant comparison. Sorry!

Did I say that I had had particularly negative experiences?

Exactly! As I stated, it is "available with the magazine".

If anyone needs the actual details here they are.

All CCC members who have "paper membership" will receive the details until the March 2019 issue. Beyond that date members need to opt in.

The new booklet of information called "Out and About" is also available as a turn-page edition online.

Hence my comment that it is easy to find information about THS and weekend meets.

I don't consider that as being negative in relation to friendliness. I agree however that they are aspects of the &CC sites that I dislike

Yes, but not as easily as in the past. I’m merely providing an update as things are changing.

Why all the point scoring all of a sudden? Husky, Easy, now me. How odd. I’ll leave you to your afternoon.

    Tinwheeler:

Sorry if I have hit a raw nerve or upset you.

I am not trying to point score  or upset anyone but I like to see accuracy and fairness.

There are good points and bad points about both clubs.

I joined the C&CC last year but have not renewed, because:-

Appalling IT system. Do not respond to E-Mails. Over 60's discount. Overseas sites & Ferries more expensive than booking direct, regardless of what they claim. Minimum stay lengths on sites. And to top it all off they do not even ask you why you are not renewing.

I bow to your superior knowledge on these matters, however, rightly or wrongly, the advertising campaign using "the friendly club" was only instigated because the perception in a wide variety of circles was that the CC had a reputation for its sites having a section of "grumpies" who were always complaining about "something", rightly or wrongly I could not say.

How do you know "the friendly club" tag was adopted many years ago for that reason Rufs? Were you part of the decision making process or are you assuming that was the case? I’m genuinely interested to know how you know.🤔

Clairvoyance perhaps. Many posters on C&CC website don't consider their club to be friendly.

At the end of the day it is all down to personal expectations and whether or not they were met.

You can have GOGs (grumpy old gits) in both clubs ,but there do seem to be more in this one, including me on occasions!

The more "members" there are in any organisations  then there will always be the perception of more GOGs and other dissenterssurprised

I believe that the 'other club' is less keeping up with the Joneses.

    Keeping up with Joneses?

I suspect that there are many like me. First couple of vans were between 5 and 8 years old and kept until around 20 years old.

Bought first new van aged 53 at a cost of £14,00 ad a tow car £19,000, 7 years later replaced with caravan £21,000 less PX, 5 yeas later a van of about £24,000 less PX. .... same tow car now coming up to 14 years old. My name is not Jones

I really don't get, keeping up with your neighbours at home is possible as they are there all the time, but how do you keep up with the pitch opposite when they keep changing?

Of course I'm familiar with the phrase but "less keeping up with the Joneses" is a comparison and I wanted to know compared to who or what.

Surely Juliec can’t mean her own fellow club members as I wouldn’t think she'd belong to a club if that was her opinion of the membership?

I completely agree with your second paragraph. No emotional involvement at all and I, too, am a half price veteran member of the other club.

As for your first paragraph, I didn’t join this club for many years because of some apparent attitudes but when I did reconsider and join, I found things had changed considerably and those attitudes are now a shadow of their former selves, in my opinion.

Also a member of both clubs. Given the collective range and quality of sites on offer I think it is value for money, but do appreciate the cheaper age concession rates from the ‘other club’ for oldies like me.

Member of both clubs. Very similar in many respects but different in the detail. Facilities similar in range in that both have some dated ones but always immaculate. You can generally choose your pitch- in CCC the manager will escort you but I have never had a pitch that didn’t suit. We rally with the CMT but tend to use CCC sites. We like their quirkiness and also that you can save money by not having a EHU and gravel. We use CCC temporary holiday sites which are brilliant.

When the product offered is so similar, and the cost of two head office and management structures is so high, I wonder how long it can be until there is an amalgamation.

It would need to be a bottle of ‘Bathtub’ Gin to motivate me!

Continuing the booze theme, I think CMC are like Stella Artois, “reassuringly expensive”.

    Cheers wink
