Firstly Happy New Year to all the moderators who do a difficult job in which they will not suit all the people all the time- all credit to them. Do you feel a BUT coming on? you are correct but it is only a small gripe. The other day I raised a point about Bone Idle Dog Owners which within a very short space of time was locked despite several people commenting and a suggestion I raise the issue in a site review. The point is this is an issue on ALL sites and not just the one I am currently at so it was intended as a general discussion and not meant to be a problem raised specifically for this particular location.Neither was it meant to be a slur on all dog owners as the vast majority are as disgusted with the idle ones as non dog owners (until very recently I was a dog owner myself - I am not anti dog) It was pointed out there was another section for dog related issues but my point is more an owner related issue - is there a section on that ?

I have some sympathy with you M but guess what I wouldn’t be surprised if someone will be along to shut down your thread🤐

Maxwell, threads discussing dogs, or rather their irresponsible owners, have caused much upset in the past. The result is that a dedicated dog thread exists in UK Sites and Touring to discuss touring with dogs.

BUT, if you read Rowena’s opening post, you will see the thread is not for complaints and she describes how these should be handled.

It’s not that issues about dog owners are being suppressed but that discussing then here can be very disruptive. I doubt you could say anything that hasn’t been said before and I think everyone here will condemn irresponsible dog owners but we are only a very small proportion of the membership. I recommend you follow Ro’s advice and make direct contact with the club.

As far as I am aware there is only one permitted outlet for dog related posts. If you post about dog mess your post contents will doubtless be removed as was my posts about the new maximum lead length not being adhered to. I think that there is probably censorship of any dog posts posted without benefit of rose tinted specs

Btw, Max, I disagree that it is an issue on ALL sites. I’ll say no more as it will only hasten closure of the thread.

You’ve been using this forum since 2012 so I’m surprised you’re not aware of the outcome of previous dog threads.

Firstly you will notice that I have moved your thread to this discussion area as General Chat is for non hobby related posts.

I think we all agree that what happen was unacceptable. However you clearly reported it to the warden and to their credit they cleaned the mess up. In the circumstances that is really all you can do. I think the vast majority of pet owners are responsible people and would totally agree with you that what happened was unacceptable. Where things become a whole lot less clear is whether attempting to start a discussion topic on the subject is really the most effective way of dealing with it. Our experience on this forum seems to suggest the opposite. The Community Manager, you may not be aware of this, has said that we do not want discussions of this nature on Club Together. That is for several reasons. By the time it gets on here it is too late to to anything about it. Such discussions almost always turn into a dog owner v non dog owner discussion and nothing, apart from upset is achieved. The Club does have rules for pet owners to follow and if you see these rules not being applied you need to report the problem to the warden of the site where direct action can be taken. If you feel the site staff are not applying the rules then you should write directly to the Club, or submit a review. However you do need to be factual. I am sorry to disappoint you again but I will be closing this discussion for the reasons I mentioned above
