I have found a few solos/singles caravanning groups that have websites but none of them seem to release their rally details for next year until after you join which doesn't encourage me to join them.

    Bill

There are quite a lot of specialist forums and Facebook Groups which act in the same way. They obviously feel that is the way they want to run things.  I would have thought that it was to their advantage to give, at least a flavour, of what they do to encourage more members to join. I can understand that in some groups to have complete access to all information might not be a good idea but they could certainly be a lot clearer on what they offer. At the end of the day you could always join, assuming this does not involve a membership fee, and then leave if it wasn't to your requirements.

Something like the New Companions Camping Club does offer a certain amount of info but with data protection etc I expect it's limited till you become a member. Here's their link for anyone who might be interested. HERE

Hope you find something you like Bill. smile

I agree David.  I don't necessarily want full details but it would help if I could understand where in the country they rally and when.

Many thanks but I have seen this as well as other websites but would still like to know where and when they rally.  I noticed that the Retired Caravanners Association did this originally but after several comments they now publish a basic rally list on their website.  I have to assume that these organisations already have more than enough members.

Bill, if it's any further help to you and others the New Companions reviewed some of the places they visited previously with a map and some details of overseas trips too. But they pointed out meetings are ad hoc through the year and members arrange things as and when they want. I'm sure they welcome new members to join in, they often put adverts up in the club information rooms.

Data protection is not an issue Brue. Nobody's data needs be released. I ran a (free) singles group for 15 years (and after that as a social group). When most were on the internet any advertising done locally directed to a website that I set up which contained, among other things, a typical diary from the previous year with no names of members or other details along with images from events, holidays and parties at my home all agreed with those shown. There was also a contact form.

It  seems  Bill,  that  you  will  need  to  start  off  by  making  contact  with  one  or  more  of  the  Clubs  you  already  have  knowledge  of. ( perhaps  the   New  Companions  CC  as  mentioned  by  Brue ?? )  It is  quite  possible  that  they  will  have  members  with  info  on  more  of  the  Clubs  with  similar  aims.

Hi all, It’s me again Vivien the mad one that helped start up Solo Touring, the free group that doesn’t ask for personal details nor any membership fee’s and posted loads of details of meets etc a few years back.

Solo Touring is still very much alive, just a little quite at the moment as I have been seriously ill for just over a year.  Hopefully fighting fit now.
