Hi All,
I have been watching this post since the beginning of January. After reading various concerns i decided to open a clean bank account and registered for a card using this new fuel account on the 7th Feb.
The card did finally arrive on 1st April and when i activated it, my pin is nowhere to be seen on my card, and is totally unique.
Today i needed fuel so decided to use the Esso garage 1/4 mile from me that, due to its location, is generally expensive. I used the card for the first time without issue. The transaction went through 1st time on a 63lt fill of premium diesel. As long as the billing side of the transaction is as flawless that's a saving of £7.09 on a fill.
I wonder what the percentage of issue free users are compared to those having problems.

After first applying in December and having messages to the effect that a (new) card was being sent out almost every fortnight since, and an on-going email exchange, I final got a card this weekend - well, not exactly - I got THREE in the same mail delivery. Each had a copy of the same "letter" but none were dated so I had no idea which was the most recently issued.
So I looked at the characters in the bottom right and guessed they were the expiry date and picked the one furthest away. The web site seemed to accept it and I now have a PIN that is nothing like anything on any of the three cards. A test purchase tomorrow on 5 litres of petrol for the lawn mower will show if it does work.
Slightly worring that we will all have to go through the renewal process together in 2023.

Filled up unleaded on Friday at my local garage.
Fuel price same as Pump King price so no saving according to the statement from pump king - however they haven't taken the money from my card yet.
I'll use it for a few weeks and see, but as I am loosing the 0.5p cash back I get for using my credit card i needed the 1 p off just to make it worthwhile.

A couple of weeks ago I sent a plea to Pump-King saying all the cards I had received and none worked a very prompt reply was received another new card next day two emails sent and replied same day by them and now I have a card that actually works. Thrilled, it doesn’t take a lot.

My first and last contribution to this discussion. At 1606 contributions surely we have done this subject to death. Use the card if you want, your choice; weekly comments comparing price of fuel here to there is getting a little boring now

Why seek to deprive others of the opportunity to post in this thread?
It'll fade into oblivion of its own accord if it’s not needed and there’s no compulsion to read it anyway - I rarely do these days.

Absolutely but maybe not at these prices. First time in my area that the offer price has been above my local cheapest (Tesco 127.9 diesel)

Same here, currently on a par with supermarkets and cheaper than Esso

Just an update on my positive experiences with my PK card following my initial scepticism. I am definitely saving money and getting my weekly price texts and email receipts as promised.
I have just returned from a touring holiday in Scotland. First fill up with regular diesel at an Esso station in Glasgow saved me 5p a litre on pump price and was 1.6p a litre cheaper than Tesco at Wick where I filled up a few days later.
I then got a 13.2p a litre saving on pump price when I filled up with premium diesel at Oswestry A5 Esso Station on my return journey - a £9.39 reduction on the filll-up bill after my PK discount was applied. Well worth it, I feel.

Having used only Esso diesel in both the car and van for 3 months having previously used only Sainsbury's or Asda or Morrisons, I was curious to see if there was any improvement in fuel consumption. Despite reports from some who swear by branded fuels for giving a better mpg and better performance etc etc, I can honestly say I have seen not the slightest difference since the change to a branded fuel.

please stop comparing the prices with supermarkets. the sale of goods in the shops subsidise the price of the fuel. just compare with the price at the pump you are using and if its cheaper than the card don't use it and pay by other means.

Surely it’s the pound in the pocket that matters to most people whether if be Esso or a supermarket. It’s only natural to compare prices overall.

Post 8 on this thread "We strive to bring members the best and most relevant offer for touring and lifestyle" was obviously a joke along with "On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel.".
We filled up at Weston Super Mare on the Easter Monday and the saving was £0.003p a litre. Currently the saving is less than 2p. Unless it is a refill from almost empty, we no longer bother to use the card as it does not offer the promised benefits plus it takes nearly a week for the amount to be deducted from the current account.

Particularly when you get a 10p per litre off voucher, it make supermarket fuel practically unbeatable for price. Just have to work out whether a full tank for OH is better than a part tank for the MH before we get on the ferry.

I dont use the Esso Card that often - I just go for the cheapest option wherever I am. I reckon I have still saved more on the Esso Card than ever I did on the M6 Toll caravan offer, when that was round (which I think I only used once). Every penny counts!!

It all depends where you live. The cheapest fuel close to me in Shrewsbury is Sainsbury's at 1.309 today for regular diesel but Pump-King undercuts that at 1.299 for this week's price. The PK discount price for regular diesel has consistently been slightly cheaper or about the same as Sainsbury's over several months. However, I did fill our petrol car at Sainsbury's a couple of days ago due to the 10p a litre discount voucher if you spend £60.
The biggest PK savings are definitely for premium diesel (unavailable at Sainsbury's) where I have saved 8-13p a litre on Esso pump price. Unleaded petrol prices quoted by PK have consistently been higher than Sainsbury's, however.
Having a PK card is a handy extra in my range of payment methods and particularly useful when touring and you don't have local knowledge about where to find the cheapest fuel.
