Wobbling with legs down!

Recently swapped to an adria adora Thames and it seems to move much more when on a pitch than our old Bailey. Is it just that longer vans move more?

We have a Sterling Elite Diamond and it wobbles if we have too much weight taken by the corner steadies. More weight on the wheels cures it.

We have a Lunar Clubman which has heavy duty steadies but find that wobbles slightly more than our previous van also a Lunar but with standard steadies. I`ve put that down to the heavy duty steadies winding down "inwards" whereas the standard wind "outwards"

You may well find resetting the steadies to not be down so "heavily" will help with this bouncy long van issue.

I believe what is happening by doing the steadies up so tightly is in part the van/chassis is acting as a full length beam supported at each end, with an equivalent load reduction on the axle. This will be inevitably more bouncy than where the axle carries the maximum amount it can and each steady only support one end of now two much shorter beams.

I have known on soft ground that over say the first 24 hours the wheels carrying by far the most part of the load settle into the ground. This inevitably leaves the steadies, if planted on reasonable large pads, to carry too much load; ie forcing the chassis more into this full length beam state. My technique to offset the wheel settling is to ease and reset both rear steadies on the first morning.

That maybe makes sense, I'm tempted to tighten the steadies more which is possibly counter intuitive. Will give it a try next time. Thanks all.
