We don't like the caravans and so............. we still buy them! We don't like the state of the roads..........but we still vote (maybe for the same party)!

...........What if we returned our shoddy caravans to the dealers and contacted our MPs to tell them to move the roads up the priority list.

Perhaps we all have a bigger part to play to influence the things that we care about. What percentage of us has sought a refund for a shoddy caravan or written to our MP lately?

My Eriba, pulled by my VW California, have no problems with British roads.

Yes, GB roads are crap, so are a lot of roads in mainland Europe, if the caravan or tow vehicle cannot take it then blame them, not the roads.

Some of the roads in the UK are really good.  The new types of surface being applied to the main trunk roads are very smooth and also quiet. Much of this work is quite rightly performed at night to minimise disruption.

BUT, many of the A road routes are simply awful imho. Modern advanced vehicle suspension systems disguise most of the ruts and potholes but caravan suspension is at best pretty basic and I've often followed outfits and been horrified at the way the caravans are being thrown about by the road surface.

Cyclists and motorcyclists also struggle with the state of British roads and I believe it's quite dangerous to be on two wheels these days. The quality of the patch work applied to the potholes is often abominable.

If only all the revenue collected in motoring taxes were to actually be ring-fenced to then be spent on the roads!
