Just got a 2018 Bailey that came with three months free Tracker Subscription.  Will need to pay for long term subscription soon so does anyone know the subscription options (e. g.  length of sub etc)  and prices please.

I have heard of prices between £50 and £150 a year depending on make and type of tracker and level of service provided. Why not ask your own tracker provider?

We've had Tracker since we bought our 'van, 4 years ago. This year it didn't go through automatically, as we'd had new debit cards and had forgotten to update Tracker. So, the company rang us and said the new subscription would be £99. We quibbled and said we'd think about it. She immediately offered it at £60 for the year. Worth knowing. We were lucky as if our bank cards hadn't been renewed the £99 would have gone through automatically.

I’d say it was plain rude.

Your defence of the post as being honest says far more about you than the other poster, in my opinion.

    I didn't  ask your opinion!

When people ask genuine questions, surely they deserve a qualified, genuine and helpful answer..... or no comment at all.

There seems to be many regulars on this site who must sit at home all day, with nothing better to do, looking to give comment on any subject that arises either with totally irrelevant information or stating the obvious! Perhaps they should find another hobby rather jump into other members' geniune discussions.

Now hold on! The other poster thought he was being helpful so why did you feel the need to jump down his throat?

True, you didn’t ask for my opinion but, as we are all free to post on here in line with the T&Cs, you got it.

It's interesting to learn your less than complimentary view of fellow members.

Again I didn't ask your opinion but as you say we are all free to post on here in line with T&Cs....

Now what was your comment regarding the subject of this Dicussion?........or were you sitting at home with nothing better to do so you thought you would jump into other people's conversations!!!

My view on other members is completely respectful of their opinions however it may be tainted depending on the content of their comments.

    Have a nice day.

I opened this post because I am thinking of cancelling my tracker account after 4.5 years for various reasons and thought I may get some interesting posts regarding the positives and negatives regarding this, but all I have seen is the silly and stupid comments and arguments between the regular 'few'. I agree with an earlier poster, if the post means nothing to you, why have an input.

Yes, Hi TW, this is the point, how good and useful is this tracker. We have been paying the annual subscription every year since we had the caravan from new. Last year they increased the subscription from £60.00 to £100.00 and I rang them about it and got the sales speak. This year we have only used the caravan twice due to my wife's illness (which is still ongoing) and I am thinking of not insuring it too. It sits in the drive, obviously wanting to go to the lovely locations in this country, but circumstances stop us doing it. If I cancel the tracker, insurance and annual service I shall be saving about £700.00, that is worth saving and we can spoil ourselves when my wife comes out of hospital on a luxury hotel for a few days. I think I would have cancelled the tracker anyway!!

Annoying and false alerts drove us daft and the tracker premium was more than the insurance discount. Being of the school of thought that says we wouldn’t want it back if it was stolen, we cancelled it.

I'm not sure about cancelling your insurance though unless you can afford to replace your van if it’s stolen and you're prepared to meet any third party claim in the event of the van being involved in an incident when it’s not attached to your car, such as running away. Your choice, of course.

Once you post a question or thread you are asking for an opinion and/or answer and you cannot dictate the way in which your thread is answered. or what is 'genuine' or not. You do not own this thread?

Just because it is not the one you wanted or wished for does not give you the right to answer in a rude way. Just be grateful that someone took the time and effort to reply?

For what's it worth the post was helpful.

I thought the response from 'LL' extremely helpful, rather than opinions or guesswork you will get it straight from the horses mouth. If you wanted a discussion on the merits or whatever then perhaps you should have asked for that in your opening post.

My opinion, you got it, have a nice day kiss

I bought my Bailey brand new in 2011 and it came with a 'lifetime' Tracker package. I have just been contacted by them to say that it needs servicing, a new battery and that would give five more years cover - for £249. I went with it because for me security is a combination of things. I have my 'van in the back garden out of sight of the road with a car parked in a place where the 'van could not pass; locked gates at the side of the house and the usual hitch lock and wheel lock, so I regard the alarm/Tracker as just an 'if all else fails' part of keeping it safe.

At the end of the day it is down to the individual but my 'combination' approach lets me sleep at night!

We kept ours live as we could not get insurance based on an "agreed value" only a "market value".

Being a German bespoke built van, here in the UK the trade does not want to know about niche, only bog standard units and so here the "market value" is trivial.

With a tracker we might stand a better chance of recovering the van, which to us is worth a great deal more than an insurer's cash handout.

Just to get back on track (pardon the pun) I previously have had Tracker in caravans bought new. I found the cost to renew subscriptions to be, in my opinion, too expensive. What really decided me against it is the question 'If my caravan is stolen but is fully insured, do I want it back or be paid out for a replacement? I am currently insured 'new for old' and prefer to pay the small increase on my annual premium for that condition which is substantially less than a tracker premium.
