Hi All. We are new to caravanning. We pick up our van on Thursday and are spending 4 nights in Hythe Kent. Elddis Rambler 19/4. Stop by and say Hi and have a good laugh at what we do wrong.

Hello and welcome to our great hobby, as of Thursday 😉, and CT.

Lots of advise on here, ask on a new thread if you can't see the subject and someone will point you in the right direction 😁.

We won't be away this weekend but I don't expect you'll be alone on site! Folks are generally great on site, we always acknowledge others with a greeting as we pass. Tell the wardens it's your first outing when you book in, they're experienced vanners themselves, they'll explain the site rules, give you a map of the site and advise on pitching to ensure safe fire gaps - hopefully they won't be tested 😲 before sending you off to choose your pitch. Generally fellow campers are happy to help so do ask, for those watching it's difficult to know whether to offer assistance or not - unless it's very obvious 😂😂.

Remember we all had to start somewhere and sometimes we can still make silly mistakes embarassed. Take your time and enjoy. Lists are good 😁. Put your electric into your caravan before plugging it into the site bollard.

    ENJOY

Have a great time but take care out there if you get caught up in the stormy weather.

Don't be alarmed if you start thinking you're hearing Elephants , Tigers etc . It's not one too many glasses , its Port Lympne wildlife park a mile or so inland.😀😀.

Thanks all. Yes bit worried about travelling in the windy weather. Don't think I will deputing up the awning this time though, 40mph winds over the weekend yikes.

Know all about the animals as the wife used to live in Hythe and I ashford Folkestone and Lydd; so know the area well.

    Thanks for the electric tip.

As excited as you must be I would be watching the weather forecast very closely! Have you towed before? Do you have far to tow it from collection? If that wind is forecast for the weekend cancel the site asap. Maybe delay collection too.  Better safe than sorry.

Are you getting from a dealer? Take your time with the handover, Thursday or later, don't be rushed! Video things on your phone and take notes, so much to take in.

Don't spoil your first trip out it will be stressful enough without adding the weather in too. It's not difficult but everything will be new to you 😉
