Powrtouch Classic

I have a Powrtouch Classic fitted to my Lunar Clubman caravan, I have not used it a lot as I am quite happy to manouvere when possible. However I did try to use it on my last trip to reverse back up a levelling block with a 20% gradient. It did not want to know, the wheel on the leveller remained virtually still while the one on the ground moved backwards. the result was the caravan spun around, even using the turn button to try to correct the spin it did not work and we had to abandon that plan and reconnect the car! On subsequent sites I did use the mover and it worked  on level ground. On returning home I tried again on my drive and with practice I could get it up the ramp with a combination of buttons, reverse and the turn button to counter the spin.

I dont know if this is correct. The literature claims it will move a caravan up a 25% slope but is this when both wheels are going up the same slope? Does anybody have experience of reversing up a levelling block, should the caravan simply reverse back. I dont know if this is relevant but when I stopped moving back, but the rollers were still locked on, the wheel on the ramp slowly crept back down the ramp.

Any advice or comments would be gratefuly received

We have a similar problem with our Sterling Elite Diamond.  I just think the Powertouch Classic is not man enough for the job and we often have to assist it with a good push even with a fully charged battery.

I have had no problem with levelling blocks but the mover was steering to the left and had this corrected during a service. The dealer said it needed re-tensioning on one side, perhaps this is happening to you?

I had some difficulty using my Powertouch Evolution to raise one side of our 'van onto a levelling block. It did take a lot of practice but I got there in the end but I still felt uneasy on those occasions when it was necessary to do some levelling.  A long story short.....I bought a Lock n Level from www.locknlevel.co.uk and have not looked back. It now costs £120 and you will need a pump (I use my bicycle stand pump). Rest assured, your levelling worries will be forgotten with one of these clever accessories.

ps. I have do not have any connection whatsoever with the retailer.

    Good luck.

We have the mover but have not tried it on a slope of that size. On a slope though we would move the one side a short distance and then the other rather than  both at the same time. it is slow but seems to work.

We have a Powertouch Classic which is on its second caravan and now 5 years old. Our current caravan is 1350Kg loaded and the previous was 1450Kg. The mover climbs levelling ramps with ease. We have a very steep slope from the road across the pavement onto our drive at home and it does this although slowing right down for a few moments. I'm sure that slope is 25%.

Recently had a problem with loss of power and that turned out to be a defective battery connection. The defect was repaired and the motor mover is back to normal.
