Hi guys, does anyone tow a twin axle with a 2.2 karando, if so can you tell me how stable it is, I really don't want to make a mistake and have a car or van that doesn't match. My towball weight is 80kg but my new van they suggest it at 90kg. All help really appreciated.

towcar.info is more accurate than this clubs matching service.

From my experience towing with a Discovery, I found that the suggested nose weight of 7% of total weight was a bit off beam. With a certain amount of load juggling I changed the weight from 100 to 75 kg. Both units handled well. A four wheeler trailer / caravan is a joy to tow because of its inherent stability.

i would much rather tow a twin axle than some of the now much heavier single axle vans.

The only times I found it disconcerting was going over marker strips before round a bouts. At certain spends the nose weight was felt to start to rise and fall as the axles went over the rumble strips.  Lessening the approach speed was the lesson learnt.

BTW Watling Towbars make a front towbar, which makes pushing into place a lot easier than reversing in a number of incidents.
