Thetford N112 Fridge Thermistor
I have a 2007 Sterling Eccles Moonstone caravan that has a Thetford N112 fridge fitted. Earlier this year I noticed that the fridge gas exhaust was getting hotter than usual and soot was being deposited on the top vent. Following research I discovered the early burners are made of mild steel and rust over time causing burn problems. I had the burner changed to the latest stainless steel type and this seems to have fixed the issue. I am aware that temperature control in an absorption fridge is not an exact science. Last weekend I did some tests and found that a couple of hours after switch on (on gas) the fridge was 9 Deg C. Later that day it was a happy 5 Degrees. However next morning it was only 2 degrees. (Themometer placed on outer edge of top shelf). I usually operate the fridge on setting 4 (of 6). I reduced it to setting 3 and the temperature rose to about 4 degrees after a couple of hours. I have heard the thermistor, which clips to the metal fins inside the fridge can fail leading to temperature control issues. It is very easy to unplug the thermistor (inside the fridge) and measure its resistance with a multimeter. It read about 13K Ohms at 20 Degrees C. It reduced to around 11.5K Ohms when I placed a finger on the thermistor for 1 min. So it is working but I don't know what resistance it should be?? I have searched the web with no result. Can anybody advise please? Many thanks
