Noises in a new caravan

I have never had a new van before so I am assuming it's just a "new" thing.  On the first site I went to I was aware of noise - somewhat like acorns or fir cones landing on the roof - but it keeps on going - even when there are no trees in sight!  I hope it is just the newness settling in but wondered if anyone else has experienced such a thing - they are quite sharp noises - not like the creaks of the house.

We had a similar thing happen last year after picking up our new van. Lots of creaking but over time we identified it as the plastic surrounds on the interior roof around the three main hekis/roof windows cooling off at night or expanding first thing in the morning sun and it has now settled down. Although during the summer we've had it didn't really cool down that much.

When caravanning in winter we made sure the heating was turned down at least an hour before retiring to allow the van to readjust.

Not sure what van you have but ours is a Lunar.

Thanks Wherenext - that makes sense as it is a plasticky type noise - like you get on drinks bottles when they pop back into shape!

    It's a Swift Conqueror.

Phippah, We’ve had all sorts of problems with our van from new but acorns landing on the roof, no.  Hope it settles down quickly and that’s all the problems you encounter 🌞

Whoah a blast from the past - my Grandpa used to call me Phippa!  Of course I was christened Philippa - (because of the poem Pippa Passes)  then I married the H!  It would be nice if that was the only thing wrong - but I expect it is the plastic settling.  So far the drawer in the kitchen has had to be repaired as it was set so low the lock didn't catch it - although it opened in transit it didn't fall!  Also the curtains were lacking stoppers on the end so they came off the rail!

Worst at the moment is the tracker that has gone off twice now when there was nothing wrong - once on site and the second time when I was about 100 miles from home with the caravan at home!  Don't want to annoy the neighbours so I haven't turned it on recently!

I am also struggling with the Alde - I got the heating going once but it has failed to respond since!  Must get it sorted before I head for the Islands and Highlands soon.
