Whale Water connector leaking

Hi

We took delivery of a new Coachman 575VIP in June 2018. One weekend to get used the van and then off to Spain and France for three weeks in July.

I noticed after a few days in Spain, the Water was leaking from the external whale pump connection when the taps were on. Not a problem - Under warranty, leaking from the pipe, externally  so should be a replacement Whale pump assembly. In France the pump stopped working. Suspected water may have leaking into the electrical connections, so stripped  the connection block (at the end where it plugs into the caravan) and as I thought the connections were badly corroded - Cleaned, still no good, connected to 12 Volt supply and still no good - Pump Failed. The van was only just over a month old, so a bit disappointed.

Anyway, spoke to the dealer who offered to post a new pump assembly to us in France (as I couldn't find a replacement locally), but due to moving on decided to collect a new one on our way home - 6 days without water in the caravan. Picked up a new pump tested on all worked fine. Things happen, thought we were just a little unlucky.

Had a wet weekend away at Chatsworth at the end of July ,so didn't really check for leaks - All seemed to work fine.

We are currently on a long week end and the connection at is now leaking again when the pump is working.

Thats two Whale connector problems in two and a bit months??

I have read posts about the hose where it fits onto the spigot becomes loose or adrift, but surely this shouldn't happen on two new assemblies or is a problem with the caravan system?

Just interested as to see if anyone  else has experienced this problem with new whale submersible pumps - I think it is an EP1642.

I will be speaking to our dealer in the morning

Many thanks

Had a similar problem with a whale pump but don't think it was the 1 you have.I found when I took it apart that the water hose was pushed on to the inlet pipe and fixed with a dab of glue.Fitted a stainless steel hose clip and have had no trouble since.Mark you I do carry a spare just in case.

    Hi Mike

    Thanks for the reply

As its still under warranty and its working but just leaking, I will take it back to the dealer and get them to investigate, but I suspect it is the pipe not sealed onto the inlet tube. Just dont understand why this is the second failure - Maybe a bad batch?

Althought I shouldn't have to I will also be carrying a spare and will be fitting a hoseclip

    Many thanks
