All those online when in a middle of a huge emotional crisis I heard horrible grinding noise from my hitch, stopped  and via mayday had the worst possible remedy.

Thank you to all on here who affirmed my worst fears.

If you are reading, anyone near pitch 187 who came over to help. How brilliantly fantastic you all are. Please, if you are reading this, thank you. Cleaning off my tow coupling, coming over with cups of tea, just doing whatever you can to help two sisters and their doggies out of a crisis.

Thank you the wardens at Cirencester for cancelling, rebooking, cancelling .... going through hoops to ensure that Jo, my sister, and I just got sorted.

We hear all sorts of grumbles about life on a CAMC site. Here's a non-grumble, a big thank you, all of you that helped me and Jo today and especially those on line so quick to confirm my worst fears and offer so much common sense advice.

All of you, thank you.

It's tradition that Motorhomers and Caravanners  rally round any other camper in difficulty, no matter where.    It's good to hear that that you were helped in your time of need. cool

Glad you had help both on site and on here. I read your thread, as an observer I don't tow, and am horrified. I've always put my trust in 'a man who can' when I've paid for a service!

Please do let us know how your chat with May day pans out. I don't want to see anyone in trouble or losing their job BUT this was pretty serious.

I'm sorry to read this was on top of an emotional crisis, if I read your post correctly. There's never a good time but sometimes it's just more dross on top of dross. Hope you're feeling better after some sound advice and a good sleep. I find a good cry/or rant helps considerably too, or to be 2 again and be allowed to have a tantrum 😂

So pleased that you had sound advice from members both on site and online.10/10 for them and 0/10 for mayday if it was grease he put on towball .That would have been an accident waiting for a place to happen.

if it was grease he put on towball .

He did WHAT? I haven't read Jen's other post yet but I can well understand her distress. That Mayday person needs retraining quick before he causes an accident. Disgraceful.

    Best wishes to OJ.

    Yes, quite an emotional crisis.

My sister and I were making a leisurely trip up to see Mum who is in a nursing home in Saddleworth.

Leisurely because urgent when a carer rang to say Mum has had an accident and was not expected to last the weekend.

Frantic efforts to find a campsite near Mum, totally hampered by the inadequacy of Air angel either refusing to log me in or dropping me out when I did manage.  My Vodafone connection had only a very weak signal and as my 3 MiFi was the only device that I knew would get a signal where we were going I was trying to preserve my data allowance.

Happily by the time Mayday Man had finished wrecking our hitch couplings another phone call from junior sister, who had returned home hurriedly from holiday, confirmed it was not as bad as feared and the creaking old door would continue to creak for a few weeks more at least.

It was indeed grease, dirty grease at that, smeared all over the tow ball and the inside of the coupling head.

Thank you for the kind thoughts xxx
