Grey water disposal
Hi all, just back from a 5 day shakedown of our new caravan.
It’s like a tiny luxurious apartment on wheels!
the one snag is having to refill the aquaroll frequently which has been quickly solved by the purchase of a mains filler kit.
Question is, is there a similar kit to take care of the grey waste or has anybody constructed anything themselves?
Ta.

Readily available.
Buy one of these:
https://www.towsure.com/easi-2-drain-waste-hose-connector
And as much of this as you need, 2x 5m is my choice.
https://www.towsure.com/internal-waste-hose-3-4-per-metre
And a couple of these:

Book a pitch with a drain and away you go.

Alternatively, try a MH with onboard tanks. 👍🏻😂

Or you could try this solution - motivated by an earlier post on here. I did it to use at a CL we go to regularly - all parts courtesy of Mr Screwfix. Saves having to battle with yards of plastic snake!

I have 6 different lengths of waste pipe and a variety of straight, 90 and 45 degree push fit couplings so I can access the waste point on most serviced pitches. Cut the longest 2 so they just fits into your front locker. The grey flexi pipe is useless. I also use a solid pipe outlet into the wastemaster. All bought at Wickes - or B&Q. Also have some blocks of wood to prop the pipe and stop it sagging on long runs. When not on serviced pitch we have two aquarolls which makes life easier too. Never dream of using site facilities, why when I have it all in the van?

We recently had a serviced pitch at Hebden Bridge and I found a couple of 2.5mt washing machine hoses joined together did the job as at one end the rubber connection neatly fits onto me waste tap on the motorhome. I am not sure service point wastes are in a set position. Ours was in the corner of the pitch but I have seen them placed more towards the middle so I suppose you have to allow for all eventualities?

Sounds like you are new to caravanning in which case you need to learn to be more frugal with water. If you are using the shower don’t let it run continuously; soap up, rinse off. Many people survive a couple of days with one aquaroll.
If you are on a CL, use a bucket for waste and empty in the hedge. There are other threads on this forum that discuss when and where you can do this without upsetting the natives.

Not sure why flatcoat says the "grey flexi pipe is useless"
We have about 8 m of it and it folds/rolls up easily for storage in the front locker. To keep it flat on the ground a few awning pegs easily hold it in place if necessary. Has been very useful.

I found this interesting. Thanks Caravan Chronicler. And I like the idea of rigid pipe, as it is easier to flush clean than ridged.

One aquaroll a day is our limit, and we shower every day and wash up in the van. (We don’t use site facilities if there are any.) One warning is to be carful drinking water from the caravan tap. We use a separate container that is regularly sterilised.

I'd consider keeping potable water in bottles and then store these for a limited period in dark, cool areas of the van. Doesn't have to be 'designer' water, just regular mains water for me drawn from that regularly used site tap. Those Aquarolls standing out in the sunshine can't be a particular healthy way of storing drinking water.

We are relatively new to caravanning (May 2018) but we’re already on our second caravan.
I would be very frugal with resources but as our caravan has a lovely shower it would be a shame not to use it.
i reckon using onsite facilities would encourage wasteful behavior.
Anyway, I posed the original question to get people’s input, I didn’t request a lecture on water usage.

“i reckon using onsite facilities would encourage wasteful behavior.“
Why? What’s the difference between using water in the facility block or water in your van?
It’s always nice when an OP returns and thanks posters for their input.😖

Most of the on site showers I’ve encountered are on a set timer so they’ll just keep flowing for the 5-6 minutes that the token allows. I generally shower in 3-4 mins so I’d be more economical in the van than I would be using onsite facilities

Thank you all for your informative posts. I think the rigid 28mm pipe with various angledjoints is the way to go.

You’re welcome, I’m sure, GT.
Token? Not on any club site showers that I’ve ever come across. They usually have on/off taps.

Think you're being a tad unfair GT. People express themselves differently but I don't think there was any intention to lecture. In fact they were responding to your own comments. Accept what's been said for what it's worth and make up your own mind up based on your own needs and experience.😉 Who knows you might have some more questions.

We regularly use CL with serviced pitches and now carry lengths of 32 & 40mm rigid waste pipe which when sliding the 32 into the larger diameter pipe allows enough flexibility.
Also as previously suggested using metal awning pegs to support the run is effective. I have however attached 3 clips sold to fasten the pipe to the house wall, onto the awning pegs at different heights to ensure a decent slope for the water to run.

I started a discussion about waste water plumbing and what ideas do people have.
I did not start a discussion on water usage and/or how to conserve water.
How I supply/dispose of water to my caravan has no bearing on the amount we use, it simply lessens the workload involved if I can run simple plumbing to the nearest drain.
Thsnk you.

Fair enough but from such discussions much helpful advice on a wider theme is passed on to those with less experience. The fairly obvious "reduce waste water by using less fresh water" is typically a lesson most of us learned the hard way. Eventually the penny dropped. There is so much more experience that people can offer and are willing, proud, indeed enjoy, passing on but I suspect that some will be reticent when it comes to replying to your posts. Such a shame. If anyone is now lecturing it is you by being so unnecessarily (let's keep it polite) blunt.

The problem is that once you post a question on a public forum you cannot then control what is posted in return or indeed keep the thread completely on track as you would wish, or indeed if they sound like a lecture to you. People have been 'kind' enough to to answer your OP and post a variety of answers (imagine if no one answered?), some of the post are answering your question some diverge onto associated ideas, take what you want as your answer or advice and ignore the rest, as R&R says it will be useful to someone?

Presently I see no real advantage at all to using a serviced pitch but that is my personal opinion at this time. Maybe, in the not so far future, my needs may change this opinion. It may then be time to revert to a caravan and consider a seasonal pitch. Who knows what is ahead of us? Each to their own!

you can use a SP with a MH, lots do
