Daihatsu Terios

Anyone any experience of the Daihatsu Terios?

We have bought one of the last ones sold in the UK with just 29000 miles as a winter runabout.

The thought struck - its a tidy 1.5 petrol 4x4. Would it tow a 2 berth caravan?

The books say it weighs 1750kg and will tow 1350kg, but it is quite small.

Any thoughts?

Best regards

My instant reaction is to say don’t do it. I suspect pulling performance would be poor.

What is the kerb weight of the car? Not it’s all up weight. And what is the all up weight (MTPLM) of the caravan? A guide for safe use is that the latter weight should be around 85% or less of the former.

I agree in its earlier mode I looked at it  but the against towing with the small petrol engine far outweighed any weight it has

Are you really sure it weighs 1750kg!? Heck of a weight for a 1.5 petrol to lug around...... Even a Freelander doesn’t weigh that much......

I think you will find the weight of car is 1170kg. 103 bhp 99mph max and 35mpg ( solo ). taken from parker.co.uk. This would give a 995kg match at 85%. very small and light caravan.

Yep, as mentioned it's no-where near 1750Kg, I'd probably not think about towing more than 1000Kg regularly. Good little solo car though.

I imagine the nose weight would be quite low
