Elddis leather upholstery - anyone got it?
We're looking at getting 2019 Elddis Crusader early next year and were wondering about the leather upholstery option.
Has anyone got direct experience of this - i.e. do you have leather upholstery in your caravan? If so, please comment and give us your feedback. A good thing/ indifferent / a bad thing?
We have leather furniture at home and also in our car and prefer it to fabric. Just want an idea as to whether to shell out and get it for the caravan!
Thanks

I guess it largely depends on how much extra it will cost and how long you intend to keep the van.
I've heard it said That leather isn’t good for sleeping on as the bed clothes/sleeping bag slides off the bunk.

Someone who sometimes posts on here has recently had their motorhome reupholstered in leather and from the photographs it looked very nice. I am not sure its for me personally as I was not so keen on the only car I had with leather seats, much prefer cloth.

Never noticed it getting sticky in hot weather Boff otherwise I agree with the addition it is much harder wearing than fabric and doesn't fade. With the OP having a car and furniture upholstered in leather I would have thought they would have known all about its properties. We have fixed beds so cannot comment about sleeping on it.

Our 2008 Hymer came with cream leather. Liked it then still like it very much and have no issues with it. We probably use a caravan far more than most so it has had to last and has well.
We don't sleep on it though you could make a bed up there, if doing so I would as we did with fabric invert the cushions anyway.
It has not faded as we had with fabrics. It is easy to clean; we do use throws, but we did before.
I suspect it adds weight and cost if chosen as an option; if rebuying we would seriously consider buying it again and fabrics offered would have to be of exceptional quality to be as durable.

I’m a bit surprised about this ‘fading fabric’ guys. Although I have no experience with leather and therefore cannot offer an opinion, I find this fading thing a bit weird. Our original 7 year old fabric has been covered with removable covers and therefore are protected from the sun and spills. When we leave the van, to go out for the day, the blinds are always closed to protect the interior including the Hekis. It also helps to keep the van cooler- you notice I say cooler and not cool! In winter storage or at anytime the van is stored it has its ‘ cardboards’ in the windows- cut from old boxes and fitted to keep the sun out and to not use the blinds permanently which is not good for them. I like to think that the interior of our van looks as fresh now as the day it was manufactured. Think resale value🤣🤣🤣

We had leather in our Adria Caravan and now have it in our Motorhome.
i wouldn’t want anything else.
Any spills, dirt can be wiped clean and looks as good as new when done.
‘I have two dogs and because of this it is a boon. Friends’ vans are covered with blankets to preserve the cloth; I can’t be bothered with all that.
Go for leather, sooooo nice.

I like you, have always looked after my van meticulously, we now live in it so not so much as it’s now home not the pride and joy it was. Unless the van has been trashed inside and dented scratched outside I really don’t th8nk that a van which is spotless will attract any more money trade in than a van that has been well used and a little tired looking. My dealer gives me a price without even looking at the van so how I treat it can’t really matter. That also bears out with looking in second hand vans and the state of some of them. The only thing they really check for on handover is damp.
