Hi everyone,

Signed up recently because I'm trying to rekindle my love for camping.

During my childhood, I used to go with my family down to Swanage, in Dorset, but I haven't been back in about 10 years!

Me and a couple of my mates are hoping to take a long-due trip down there in August sometime.

Anyone have any fab campsites they'd care to recommend in the nearby or surrounding area?

Many thanks if you can help guys!

(I hope I've posted this in the right section. If not, please can the moderators kindly move this post to the right section? Cheers :) )

My recommendation would be the C&CC site at Corfe Castle, in a very scenic spot with lots of walks into the Purbecks and down into Corfe itself (which takes you around Corfe Castle walls.) Plus the steam railway for trips into Swanage.

There are all types of sites in the area and I don't know what you prefer, but when you say. "me and a couple of my mates" I wonder if you want a campsite  with an on site bar and pub food?   So perhaps Ulwell Cottage?

Another suggestion, for a small group, might be Redcliffe Farm on the river Frome, just a 10 minute riverside walk into Wareham, lots of pubs, shops, boating and river trips.

Another one just down the road a bit is the C&CC Ridge Farm site.

You can also check for sites on https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/index.asp where you type in the town Swanage then can check each sites reviews and that it is a suitable location to the town you need to be near. Good luck with your search.

Haycraft is a lovely site and the one we allways stop at in the Swananage area - nice train ride into Swanage and some good pubs nearby

If you want to travel in, there are several good sites around Wareham.  Hunters Moon CAMC site, and just up the road is Wareham Forest Touring Park.  We've just come from Wareham Forest (couldn't get a serviced pitch on Hunters Moon) and had a good time.  Spent quite a time on Knoll beach, Studland.  Dog friendly with plenty of parking (free with a disabled badge), and a beach cafe.

Sorry for the late reply everyone. Cheers for your responses.

Ended up staying at Redcliffe Farm, so cheers brue! Had a fab time.

Hoping to come back here next year, so we've already got some ideas floating around.
