Give us some clues. How many miles do you like to drive in one go? What route will you take?

Depends on your route really and if you want to stop just the once or more. Can recommend a good CL in the Worcester area if you're on the M5 route or one near Solihull if you're doing M1/M69 or if you want to get a bit further down, there's Minnows near Tiverton just off the M5 or even Exeter Racecourse if that's not too far.

Just need you to give us a bit more detail. smile

We used to stop off at the commercial site called Minnows neat Tiverton.  It's just off the motorway and there's nice walks along the canal towpath.  If you have bikes you can cycle next to the canal to Tiverton,  if not ther's a good bus service from the village.

And let’s not forget Cadeside at Wellington or Hurn Lane at Burnham amongst others.

It's a journey we have done up to half a dozen times a year some years. If you are happy to provide more info, such as with children, dogs, if you are doing all motorway, and area of Yorkshire you are departing from, might have some different ideas for you?smile

We use M1/M69 M, detest the M42. Only time we used it was to blast home from Tewkesbury on night my Dad was taken ill. Solo I might add, not towing.

Agree - we usually take the M69 option, but did use M42 once to get to a particularly good CL! smile

We reckon you could overnight at Evesham Country Park if you don't mind being locked in car park! We usually make this our first break stop after leaving home. Plenty of room, free parking, and up the back a decent dog walk. Bit of retail therapy if required as well! Not far to M5 then. Our route for many years was M69, A46, A429 down through Moreton, Stow, Cirencester, then either of routes to M4 where road splits near Royal Ag College.....done Trowbridge a few times!laughing

Anywhere between Worcester and Tiverton as suggested, Malvern,  Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Burnham, Wellington etc. I would aim to get through the Bristol/Weston area as early as possible. Holiday and weekend delays have started already. Have a good time. smile

With a Motorhome I would use SearchForSites.co.uk  website or app  and pick a pub stopover at halfway, but halfway from Sheffield is different from halfway from Whitby and we don't know where in Yorkshire you live.

Sorry but my geographical knowledge of Yorkshire is sketchy. I repeat my earlier questions.

Give us some clues. How many miles do you like to drive in one go? What route will you take?”

Close to M1 then. Assume you use this, but are you using most folk's routes down M42 to switch to West side of country, or something else? You can look at about three hours on a good run, no traffic hold ups, to pick up M5 other side of Birmingham. Depends how long you want to drive on from there. And what traffic conditions are like.  Any more clues?

I'd definitely try to get past the Bristol area then. But when are you travelling? Weekends in summer are going to be fraught to say the least. Do you just have one driver or are you sharing? In which case, if it's not too far, I'd say Exeter Racecourse - easy to get back onto the A30 for the stretch down to Newquay then.

Yep, get Bristol out of way is always a priority for us. OP is in a MH, which makes the journey less fraught, scope for other routes if desired. We do it in two hops, but got the time nowadays. Stop off in Cotswolds somewhere, then up early and blast the M5 before it gets too bad. We love Exeter Racecourse as well, so much so that we have a few days there sometimes coming home.

CL just off M5 near junction with M50, just up from Tewkesbury, The Willows. Very nice.

As I said earlier, suggestions will depend on route, who is travelling, etc.....

At peak times it's best to clear the M4/M5  junction at Bristol as early as possible. Delays of several hours can build up from late morning onwards, same when heading north. So either stay south of Brum for an early start through this bit or get up very early to get through before you meet everyone doing the same thing. smile

I should add use the route east of Brum due to continuing roadworks till 2019 on the Oldbury Viaduct near the M6/M5 interchange.

    Hi Nash,

lots of good advice on here so far, depending on how far you want to get down to on first leg.    However, if you are off soon, most of these sites will be full, especially at weekends.    You need to leave as early as possible to try to get past Weston super Mare for your o/n stop.    The M5 is always very busy and sometimes just a car park on school hols.    I know cos, I can see it from my house.   You need to ring around and try to book a place.     There is a site in Taunton, only 10 minute drive from J25 on the M5.   Web site cornishfarm.com.  Good site for stop over and more likely to have space, but try to book ASAP.

Best of luck with your booking, enjoy your hols...

I've just read a review of Underhill Farm CL, just off the M5 near Taunton and if you could make it that far it might suit. But leaving, even at 5 on a Sunday morning is going to bring you to the M4/M5 interchange at a very busy time mid morning so you'll need to be patient! smile

Really? It’s our favourite day for heading off or returning. Even the Brum section is better on a Sunday in our experience. Far fewer HGVs around.

Not now the schools are breaking up, we avoid the Taunton to Bristol M5 at weekends through the next few weeks. I think the OP will just about do it with an early start, good luck!

Agree with that about HGV's but it always seems awful to us heading South. Mind you, a few years since we have done it now, M1 near us is awful on Sundays due to traffic coming out of Meadowhell shopping centre. Lots of day trippers in hats tootling around as well!laughing
