Just bought a Quick Sat 65 satellite system, has anyone had any experience using this system abroad and if so how far down south where you able to use and get a good signal. Thanks ,

The general view seems to be that a 65cms dish should get UK FTA programmes at least as far south as  the Loire and perhaps a bit further but if you are going much further south then a larger dish would be required.

Thanks David for the reply I did read the details from the Quick Sat guide but I wondered if any members had actually used it further afield. Manufacturers can sometimes be very conservative on the range of these devices.

Has anyone used the QS65 in Spain for instance...

I suspect manufacturers will always be on the side of caution as they don't want unhappy or complaining customers. Getting a signal is not an exact science as the nearer to the edge of the footprint for your size of dish the more other things come into play. For instance rain in a strong signal area shouldn't have too much affect but on the edge of the signal it may well have.

Your dish may well pick up Sky transmissions that far south but that won't include the UK FTA programmes so you have to be a Sky subsciber. Sometimes the odd FTA channel is on a different satellite with a larger footprint but that is a bit like clutching at straws.

I am a sky subscriber so always take the box with me, the wife likes to keep up to date with her soaps whilst we are away so hopefully the QS65 will still pick up the channels when we are in France this Sept.

just received my new satellite dish kit from Satgear. £244.95 65mm HD with easyfind. Tried it at home and was so easy to use. has a little light on LNB flashes red then solid red then flashes green when near the required satellite and then solid green. took about 20 mins to set up including unpacking everything, brilliant picture even on a 720 TV.recon 5 mins when onsite. Its a doddle. all stored in a padded waterproof holdall. recommended.

Easyfind is very easy to use and ensures that your dish is in the optimum position, giving good reception where others struggle.
