Kendal Site - advice please?
Hello. We are arriving at Kendal site next Sunday.
is there anyone out there willing to divulge the best pitch numbers for daylight and/or sunshine? We are looking forward to the woodland setting, but haven’t been before and it looks quite a difficult site to find your way round and choose a pitch.
It would be nice to get a bit of afternoon sun if this lovely weather lasts beyond the weekend.
Here’s hoping someone will be prepared to publicise their favourite spot on the site!

Use the sit often.No favourites, they are all great. When you arrive just drive round until you find a vacant one you like. Remember the sun moves so there will be different shades as the day progresses. Its a country site in woodland as described.

Do I take if from you Fisherman, that you can choose you own pitch's?
As this is my first year with a caravan as a C&M member yet to use one of our sites - I'm used to being advised by the warden which pitch they have put me on.

Sometimes a pitch will be allocated, or suggested, if for example not all pitches can take all sizes of units, or if a disabled pitch is requested.
Otherwise you would usually have a choice.
With serviced pitches, it can happen, as there are not that many of them, that there is only one pitch vacant.

On nearly all club sites you can pitch on any vacant one of the type you have booked ,i.e. serviced ,awning ,or non awning, at present that means grass (if available) or hardstanding ,some pitches may be "reserved"for the less able members but these would normally have a notice to that effect near the pitch numbered peg

The warden will advise you when you arrive, Pimpers, and give you a copy of the site plan showing the pitches. You can download that same site plan from the site's page on this website if you want, along with the site leaflet which may give you a bit more insight.
Kendal is not a typical club site in terms of layout. Enjoy your break.

I tend to look at the site plan before we visit, sometimes print it out in advance to get some idea of the direction of pitches, which way they are facing etc. All I can say about Kendal is it's either up hill and divided into smaller areas or down near the river where it's fairly flat.

Make your own choice on arrival from the type you've booked. This particular site has some pitches in open areas but also some 'shady and/or private ones' if that's your preference.

That's the advantage of the "other lot". Saves you all those agonising decisions.

The Kendal site is a bit like a warren, some areas in dead ends on steep slopes etc it isn't the easiest site to find a pitch if you don't know the lay out. I like it there but it's worth getting your bearings before you leave reception!

The site is heavily wooded and there are very few, if any which will get full sun, and these are likely to be taken very quickly once free. There is also an allocated long unit area as not all the pitches can take the largest ones, but that is deep in the trees. Nothing wrong with the site but you have to accept its limitations.
To give you an idea, we were there during a full scale gale and all we felt was a breeze. Hope you do not get one but it is a great place to hide if you do.

Hello, OP here. Well guess what, we had to cancel last year, so now we arrive at Kendal on 12 May 2019! Have read all the responses and looking forward to finding a pitch that we like, which judging from the information you have provided, should be fun, and not difficult.
in the meantime, we have met some ex wardens from Kendal who are now at Chester, and they have given us some tips.
so will report back after the trip.

My top tip is that the sun still rises in the East, and sets in the West, so anything facing South with no shade will be a winner!
