Treatment for Corrosion on Aluminium

Has anyone got any knowledge or advice for treating corrosion on aluminium.  Specifically looking for recommendations for an application/solution/chemical for use after removing paint and corrosion deposits to treat the corroded area and then protecting the metal surface (before re-applying paint etc) to hopefully prevent recurrence.

    It might be worth having a word with your local alloy wheel refurbishers.

    I was told many years ago that vinegar is a good fix for aluminium corrosion. Never had to use it so cannot say that it works but give a window manufacturer a call and he might be able to help.
