Hi All,

We've booked a week away at Crystal Palace Club Site in August.

We've never used this site before and we want to use it as a base to visit London. What are the public transport options for getting into London? The site leaflet says theres a bus service, does this run in the evening back to site? Is there a train or tube station close by? Is there supermarkets/ food shops close to the site (we're in a MH & don't move it off site).

Any advice/ suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Use Abbey Wood, much better access into central London and choice of transport.

Buses run 24hrs in London,  Overground Train station is about 15 minute walk at most. Loads of shops, restaurants, etc just down the road again about 10 minute stroll cool

Forgot to add, trains from Crystal palace station will get you to Victoria and from there you can travel on to any part of London you wish using the underground and local buses. You'll be better of buying oyster cards for discounted fares and our buses don't take cash anymore. you can however pay using your touch credit/debit card (on the trains as well) although it's cheaper to buy a prepaid oyster card and top it up if need be. Hope you have a great time here cool

Most importantly, make sure you MH doesn't fall foul of the LEZ and /or T charge and Congestion Zone (Central London).    Crystal Palace is in the LEZ!

If I recall correctly FB has a Bailey motorhome which is at least Euro Class 5 so is fine for LEZ purposes unless this has changed since the scheme was introduced?

I am another that likes Abbey Wood as its easier to get to and it has good transport links into Central London by train, bus and river. There is a small local Co-Op a short walk from the site and a larger Sainsburys a bit further away but probably still within walking distance.

I'm guessing folk have read that Crystal Palace CAMC site is closing at the end of the year as the owner of the land is not renewing the lease.  I did read somewhere on here that they are going to be building houses, a leisure centre and a bus station on the land....

The number 3 bus runs from near the site - sure wardens will tell where the stop is - to Central London (Whitehall, Trafalgar Square etc). It runs every 6-12 mins during the day and is about 60mins to Centre.

Night Bus N3 also runs to the same stop.

That was all true last year.
