Tewkesbury Prices

There was a thread about this before, but such is the search facility I can't find it.

Today I received an email informing me of the opening of Tewkesbury and of course June 2019 prices were released. Strangely for a couple prices in June 2019 are £5.20 less than off peak sections of March, April and May 2019. The March / May prices were confirmed as correct on the other thread and there was speculation that this price might be part of a new trial strategy. However, the prices have reduced in June, so I am not sure what is going on.

Steve - I'll report this in the hope we might get further clarification. I did indeed get confirmation via live chat that the March to May prices were correct as shown, but I still suspect it might be a cocktail up on someone's part! surprised

I'd just book it quick before someone changes their mind!  😀

Unfortunately as with a lot of retailers that will not necessarily work. As section 5.4 of the UK terms and conditions shows:-

5.4 In the event that we revise these booking terms, including the price for a booking, we may request that members and non-members with existing bookings adopt the new booking terms. We will do this by providing a minimum of 1 weeks’’ advance notification in writing and members and non-members unwilling to accept the changes to booking terms will have the option of cancelling their booking at their discretion at no cost. In the event that the member or non-member has already paid a deposit for a booking, we will refund this in full.

That is provided they stick to the terms of contract and provide at least one weeks notice. What do you think the chances of that are?

As they have still not told me a booking at Chatsworth I have for March 2019 does not exist, you are probably right. I only did not delete it as I wanted to be sure they did not change their mind on the refurb dates. However today they announced it will open on April the 4th, so it can go.

One weeks advance notice in writing will be a fat lot of good if you are touring. It'll be on the mat when you get home.

I thought they still used carrier pigeons or stagecoaches.

    Hello SteveL,

I have double checked this with my colleague and he has advised this is actually correct as June is classed as mid-season. Sorry for the confusion and hope this helps.

I fail to see how mid season can be charged less than low season or has the club finally gone completely round the bend. It gets more like a 'farce' every time they update something.

    Thanks Rowena.

I agree June is Mid Season and will therefore be less than high. However, high season for three months from March to June? Yes there will be high points in it, for Easter, and May BH's, but for the whole three months, that is extraordinary. Why is Tewkesbury so much more expensive than York Rowntree, a very, very popular site? For the first two weeks of March it's £22.60, as compared to £30.20 at Tewkesbury. Even for the rest of March York is only £25.90. That's priced for two adults.

The logic still defeats me. I still suspect it's a cock up somewhere along the line. Surely early April shouldn't be more expensive than late June? undecided

Easy way for notice to be given to HO is for all members to boycott the site at such a ridiculous price!! Simpleslaughing

Rowena, you need to feed back to HQ that at these prices there will be a lot of members, us included, that will not book the site

that maybe, yet the site will probably be very popular? Demand is outstripping supple on other sites.

I agree and have said so before, but until people stay away from club sites nothing will happen, do you think that will happen?

well interesting point, Good Friday is 19th April, Easter Sunday 21st, and so Easter Monday is 22nd. I've already seen different holidays for different schools/areas. Some will have the two week before this and including the Monday, and some putting the Easter weekend in the middle. No doubt the club will claim all three weeks as peak?

If we were looking for a week away in March,  as we often do. I think we would opt for a service pitch at Cirencester at £21.45 midweek / £25.40 weekends. £30.20 for a standard pitch in March is just crazy.

I honestly can't see anyone who hasn't a specific need to stop at Tewkesbury, booking it in March at £30.20 CS. Not when other sites in the area are over £10 cheaper a night.

Could this be the pricing structure across the whole network in 2019.

well as you can now book half way into 2019 at this present time I would say the answer is no?

I would imagine in March that only the hard standing pitches will be available, it is notoriously damp on the ground at Tewkesbury. Maybe the prices are structured to bring in revenue due to lack of availability. As you said, If you don't need to be in Tewkesbury there are cheaper options in the area.

It is difficult to gauge availability yet, because the web site has not been updated. As well as the multi surface pitches, which should be available, there are also the standard pitches which can be either grass or hardstanding. I have not seen anywhere the total number of hardstandings that will be available.

It used to be only 33 out of 138. Did they charge more for them in the early months when that was the case? Clearly there will be more than 33 after the refurbishment,

I can't remember any hardstandings previously, see here

I thought it was all grass but perhaps I have forgotten!
