Gloucester Services

It is nearly time for our annual holiday down to Cornwall this time departing from North Wales where we now live and I was wondering whether anyone has used Gloucester Services as a stop over?

They say it costs £23 a night (they give you a £5 voucher back for the shop) and you just go to the shop if it is still open or the forecourt and get a ticket. There are no services which is fine, we just thought we would break up the journey so husband can get his head down for a while as we will probably arrive there about 10pm and then set off for Sennen the following morning, after a lovely breakfast of course.

They are probably one of the best services on the motorway network. Dedicated caravan / motorhome area that is totally separate from cars and HGV's. So does not tend to get misused. Never overnighted, but although there will be considerable motorway noise at least your not stuck amongst the HGV's. Food although not cheap is very good.

They are very good but make sure you have supplies as the opening times for food etc are different from the usual 24 hour set ups. Check the web site if this might affect your plans. smile

Aren't there any CLs just off the motorway that may be suitable/quieter? When we do the Cornwall run from Yorkshire we stop off near Weston Super Mare on a CL and stay in an orchard.

Hortham Farm, Field View & Wood view 2 CLs just off the M5 at Adderbury.

Also site of Bristol Caravans if you need parts etc.

It's nice to stay on a CL but the OP mentions arriving around 10pm and having a cooked breakfast in the café so sometimes a motorway stop is easier.
