I booked this site for a 4 night stay (30/04/2018 - 03/05/2018).

We arrived 1/2 hour early and on ringing the bell were told that we were not allowed in (club rules = fair enough). So we went to find a local shop to buy some lunch. We were both desperate to go to toilet so at 11:45 we parked outside and walked in. When I politely asked the receptionist if we could use the toilets she replied "no" as there was NO water on site. On asking when it would be back on she said she didn't know and couldn't guarantee that day even. Having asked her what her suggestion would be she said use the toilets in the pub next door (bearing in mind the pub doesn't open until 12 md and closes at approx 23;00) I asked what we should do in the meantime but she was unable to reply. Now we have an old T25 VW van with no facilities so we were not best pleased that we had driven from Stoke on Trent to Bury to be confronted with NO water and no communication from the site. On asking why we hadn't been informed she said she hadn't had time to phone us! We left rapidly before we got into a heated arguement especially as the lady in the queue behind us agreed that the receptionist was very rude to us.

We ate our lunch, used the pub's facilities and I went back in. The receptionist was a lot more helpful and eventually found us an affiliated site in Knutsford = a few miles from where we lived!! Because I had mentioned that we were in a small VW she already knew my name because we were the only small van booked in so WHY didn't she phone us even if no-one else as she would know that VWs have a lack of facilities onboard?

My review of this site is NO stars because of the above, and having looked at reviews from before we left for Bury, a number of visitors had complained about the broken boiler and no hot water a week previously. It looked an amazing area and we were looking forward to a stress free break having had a lot of family issues recently. I cannot find where to write a review hence this message.

NOT good enough Caravan and Motorhome managers. Spend some money urgently please.

Sorry to hear of your experience, glad you found an alternative site, it must have been stressful at the time. To find the review area click on the Burrs Country Park details page, then cursor to reviews, you should find a tab to add your review on there where more people will see it.

Reviews of campsites or issues should be made on that campsite page rather than the Story Section. This section is for Blog type accounts of trips away, hopefully with photos added to illustrate the blog. Unfortunately  I can't move it for you but will leave it here for a day or two so that you can see this message and repost in the correct place.

    Thanks

Not sure what the problem is but I see you say you couldn't move it David.  I've just gone through the process of moving it but it keeps coming up as page not found.  I'm now uncertain if others can still see this discussion.

I can see it Jill although it came up with the "road sign" but on pressing the whole discussion title it took me here.

I thought only folks who actually stayed on sites could review them? The situation referred to by this individual member happened in a single time period, and has a personal set of circumstances particular to them. Any review they do will only be about arriving (early), and a one sided report of their subsequent conversation with Duty Staff. Not a review that is going to be of help to other visitors.

What I meant was that I couldn't move to the Review section. I like to give people a couple of days to see my comment before deleting.

It was all a bit unfortunate by the sound of it but at least they were helped with an onward booking so the "review" is partly disappointment but also mentions they did get some help. Other reviews have pointed up some utility failures on the site too. I suppose you could say they nearly got on the site and they had booked?! undecided

It would have been better had the OP written directly to the Club to highlight their complaint. They also mention that it is a review (perhaps not as we know it?) One advantage of posting it as a review is that Regional Managers take an interest in them so points raised could be considered. Posting in the Story Section, or the Discussions is unlikely to get through to those managers unless highlighted by the CM and in this case it would be quite difficult perhaps to justify that. Clearly the OP was upset and annoyed and when this happens it's often as it comes across and the dangers of posting in either stories or discussions is that it gets pulled apart by other contributors. Even when we are partially architects of our own misfortune, ie arriving early, it just adds up when other things outside of our own control pile on top.
