Good afternoon,

Tewkesbury Abbey Club site will reopen on June 15 following extensive redevelopment, and you can now make bookings. We look forward to welcoming you in the new enlarged and improved reception area. We have also constructed a brand new amenity block with modern bathroom and shower facilities with family bathroom. There will be 50 new all-weather pitches of which 18 are fully serviced, new motorhome waste and service points.

With kind regards.

Kimberley

That's good news. Maybe I'm being a bit dim, but what does the MS column represent in the price table?

That is great news, when will the pictures be updated to show the changes, also the site plan doesn't seem to have been updated as no serviced pitches showing?

Considering how long it has been closed would have thought the web page could have been updated to reflect the changes on launch day

Mid season perhaps.  Rather than low or high season.  Just a thought.

Could be, Jill, although the prices quoted look identical to the standard pitch prices all the way down! undecided

If you scroll right to the bottom on the availability, there is a multi surface with awning. Not come across these before on CAMC sites.

is this the start of being able to book a 'surface type' ie Hardstanding?

however, the other 'types' don't say 'grass' or other, so all a bit confusing...

perhaps another call to the sites team?

No mention of multi surface with awning in the pitch type page of the website:

    https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/useful-information/types-of-pitch/

Maybe its a ploy to keep members confused and maintain the race track circuits to grab the best pitch (wotever that is, one mans meat, anothers poison) on the dot of 12:00 cool

Perhaps a multi surface has a roll of astroturf that can be deployed on dry days to give the impression of grass and to break up the car park look cool

I've got a feeling Tewkesbury will be quite different, hope they've left a tree or two?

I would like to know if the bathroom facilities are British or American.

With the "complaints" that were made about ground conditions and the very outdated "facilties" it can only be much better, even if a few trees have had to be replaced

😀  MS possibly stands for Multi-Surface.  The way I read it, is that it's a new sort of thing.  The caravan is pitched on a hard surface, but if you erect an awning, it goes on to the grass at the side.  I think!

Surely Grimstead Towers know what the heading  MS means on their own website. Two minutes is all it would take to tell their customers ..  It is not a secret.-- or is it surprised

    wink

    Of course they do.....

The "confusion" around the number of pitches, the number of hardstandings and the surface type is deliberate. It was the same with Bingham Grange...

In the same way that car companies publish "teaser" photos of new models, this is basic marketing ploy taught to all Business Studies students at university now to get us talking about the new product.....

In due course someone will be along to tell us the answer....

I have just booked Tewkesbury for a break for this time next year.   Standard pitch with awning £30.20 per night for the two of us, I nearly fell off my chair.  At those sort of prices I think we will be looking elsewhere.  It's a shame as it's somewhere we have never been but I'm not paying that price.  I notice the prices seem to be peak rate from 1st March all the way through to 31st May.  I feel we are being ripped off!

It does seem a bit odd. Sites such as Broadway and M in M, have slightly higher peaks at £32 to £34, but do reduce in between. For Tewkesbury they seem to be keeping only a slightly lower price right through.

Although not much of an increase on this years peak (£1). It is when compared to the £24.20 charged from the 3rd June to 19th July this year.  I would have been expecting about £25 for the off peak bits of May next year.

Don't worry I'm sure whatever price they ask there will always be some who will pay - the question is will the numbers be sufficient in the quieter weeks?

Tewksbury site is unique -- MS probably stands for Multi-use site.  smile

A possible explanation could be :- During dry weather it caters for caravans and motorhomes . But during the frequent rainy and flooding periods it caters for narrow boats. laughing

    wink

I wonder if those prices are accurate or yet another "oversight" somewhere along the line? It seems strange that the whole of that period should show at that price and one shudders to think how much it will cost in summer peak season. Tewkesbury has always been one of our favourite sites - great for exploring the abbey and town, and for river walks. But at those prices we'd be looking elsewhere! frown

Edit - JD,   I've reported your post in the hope that someone will wake up and clarify the situation. Mind you, since no one has answered my question about MS in the past week, I wouldn't hold your breath!wink

OK - live chat seems to be the way to go.

*NEW***Multi Surface Pitch (Total 17) This pitch type offers a hardstanding pitching area for your outfit. When ground conditions permit, (typically between May and September), or as indicated by the site staff, you may also erect an awning on the 3m grass area within the pitch area however this cannot be guaranteed at all times. Awnings cannot be sited on the block-paved hardstanding area at any time.

    The prices shown are correct

Not going to be a lot of takers I would think. As a comparison Malvern is  £24.30 (weekend) £20.05 (midweek) for the off peak May dates in 2019.

No good to me then. I don't use an awning now but if I did I would not book one of these pitches on the off chance that the weather was fine. I don't mind car or caravan on grass but prefer hard standing outside the caravan door not grass.

The mid season price is ludicrous from what is reported on here compared with what I have paid this may elsewhere.

Is Malvern comparable in terms of location though.....?

But the club will have in mind an occupancy level it expects/needs ......

If it doesn't achieve that the pricing will surely be adjusted.....?

Obviously nowhere near as convenient,  but the C&CC site at Alderton (Winchcombe) is showing £21.25 per night in April with ACR and, of course a choice of pitch type! wink

Even better, in March you can pay £30.20 at Tewkesbury, or £21.20 (weekend) £17.30 (midweek) at Malvern.

That sort of pricing structure really does rely on folk really, really wanting to be at Tewkesbury.
