Can anybody recommend the best sites to visit Dorset coastline, National Trust properties, and other suggested places of interest.  We have a motorhome so we don't want to be covering miles each day, and we would welcome suggestions as to motorhome friendly (or otherwise) car parks close to the attractions.  Also are there any pleasant walks straight from the sites

Of particular interest would be Lulworth, Lyme Regis, Monkey World etc, etc,

For Lyme Regis take a look at sites further west towards Seaton and Axmouth (there are sites near these places too.) There is also a campsite in Uplyme, you can walk along the river into Lyme. Also the C&CC have a site at the back of Lyme Regis which is in quite a pleasant spot away from the crowds. Lulworth has a campsite overlooking the coast.

There are NT car parks on the coast between Abbotsbury and West Bay, the biggest is at Hive Beach, get there early for a good spot, nice shingle beach, good cafe and right on the coast path.

The C&CC site at Corfe Castle has some lovely walks, into Corfe itself and the adjoining hills and countryside, plus the steam railway into Swanage.

The CAMC site at Haycraft also has walks, to Corfe etc and is a short stroll from the steam railway too.

There are  two  CL's with "Cottage" in their title Nr Weymouth and both are excellent. Of the two, Mouse cottage might be better for MH's although the other one has two all weather pitches that are fairly flat too.  Have a look at Kimmeridge towards the east, not far from Corf, it is right on the sea and although not having Toilet facilities (From memory) it is a beautiful site with lovely views. It used to be a club site for a while but later became privately owned. I know that it is still open because I saw it being praised in a magazine recently.

Large commercial sites @ Bagwell Farm (Nr Weymouth) and Highlands End (Nr West Bay/Bridport) give easy access to the coast path and were quiet out of season. Lulworth Cove car park also takes motorhomes and again gives easy access to coast path east and west to Durdle Door or you can drive there and park using same ticket the last time we were there.   There is a regular Jurassic coastal bus service. Have seen M’homes in National Trust car parks @ Kingston Lacey (mid Dorset) and Stourhead (north Dorset/south Wilts border) where you can walk from.  They both have 5 van sites though have never stayed there.  You may find more sites & reviews on uk campsite.co.uk.  Good Luck.

as Brue mentioned C&CC, I'll add that there is a CS in Lyme Regis within walking distance of the town, and if you're a member, they also have loads of Temporary Holiday Sites (THS) in the area, where you can flit from one to another without booking....around £9 a night but you'll need your own loo/shower and probably will have limited (or no) EHU points....however, a great way to get in close to towns like Swanage, wareham, Corfe, etc....

We stayed on the AS of Wood Farm just outside Charmouth a couple of years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it, a nice well laid out site with a swimming pool at extra cost. Plenty to do without moving the vehicle. We walked into Charmouth, (although you can use the bus to avoid the pavement walk) then along the foreshore to Lyme Regis fossil hunting. Take note of the posted safe transit times, or you could end up in difficulty. There is a path back from LR but we opted for the bus.

The Jurassic coast bus also stops close to the site and this can be used to journey up and down the coast. We did a few bus out, walk backs. Only really using the car to go shopping.

Felicity's farm shop about 4 miles towards Bridport on the A35, has room for MH's and when we were there MH's were able to park OK in the Morrisons at Bridport.
