    NEW OFF-GRID SITES ADDED:
Domo, The Old Racecourse, Oswestry, Shropshire, England SY10 7HW
Mount Pleasant Farm, Skinners Bottom, Redruth, Cornwall, TR16 5DU
Patch Elm Farm, Wotton Road, Rangeworthy, Gloucestershire, BS37 7LS
Cefn Farm (metered EHU) Llangristiolus, Llangefni, Anglesey, Wales, PA29 6XN (added bach as CAMC listing as Off-grid)

Johnny, I see that on their web page Domo are now showing as having EHU again, and I've had an e-mail from Steve Harvey at Mount Pleasant Farm saying that they still have EHUs and that he is aware of the error and is communication with HO about why they have changed the data. Am also waiting from word back from Patch Elm Fm to see if the situation is the same there.

Hurley View - Lydeard St Lawrence, Taunton, TA4 3QY, this old CL has no EHU, but for some reason does not appear in the Site Directory, and needs to be added to your list.

Something has definitely been amiss in the CL Office it would seem. Will keep you updated.

Nellie my god what a nightmare! Thanks for the help
I should know better really as they think they have over 2200 according to the website.

Domo I have Deleted User as CAMC page says EHU now!
Mount Pleasant Farm I will remove as you are correct there website confirms EHU - CAMC still say no EHU!
Patch Elm - website says no ehu @£12 a night
Lashlake Barn was putting in EHU thats why its removed
Bleak House Fm, York; removed Dec 2019
    Callows Fm, Whitney, Oxon; ?
Green Acre Fm, Haverfordwest; was temp closed and removed Sept 2019
    May Fm, Frome. ?
Hurley View, Taunton. Found this when searched CAMC for it! “Hurley View - Quiet site with views of Quantocks and Brendon Hills. West Somerset Steam Railway 2 miles, fishing 6 miles, golf 2 miles and Cedar Falls Health Farm 2 miles. Lawned site with Electric hook up, no groundsheets.” Although listing says no EHU @ £12 a night - (seems expensive for no hookup) If you are sure no EHU will add it?

Johnny, I missed that on the Hurley View page so don't know for sure as the reviews are few and far between and don't mention whether or not there's EHU. There is no e-mail address so the only way to confirm or not is to give them a ring.

I've not had any word back from Patch Elm as of yet. Both Callows Farm and May Farm have disappeared from the web listings.

I have a list of about 30 CLs that are no longer listed but have not been recorded by Maddie on here or in the club's magazine.

For some reason the number of CLs on the web site keeps changing, having been as low as 2165 but now stands at 2173.

    Hi Nellie
Patch Elm I will await answer but see image from elsewhere and @ £12 must be EHU!
Callows Farm - I did removed Dec 2019
May Farm not had this one at all - (I have a May Tree CL Preston)

Yes the numbers going back up slowly, maybe some have decided to open again after Lockdown!
I do know of a new off-grid CL that joined CAMOGG but I not be listed yet on CAMC website:

Archie’s Field CL- on A148 , Holt, Norfolk NR25 6RZ (shame I can not give them a link to a page

Johnny, this is the reply I've just received from Patch Elm Farm

thanks for this yes we have elec hook up, always have and still don't know why the book states not.

    Thanks

There is definitely something strange going on with the web site. I wonder how many others that I've not noticed are in the same boat?

I am still keeping the Off-Grid Sheet & Map up to date!
Hopefully you will be able to visit some Off-Grid CLs during 2021smile
The good news is the Facebook Caravan & Motorhome Off-Grid Group continues to grow - now 12,400+ members - https://www.facebook.com/groups/CAMOGG
I was just looking at the original post above in April 2018 we had 434 Off-Grid CLs to chose from, today we have 372 a loss of 62 = almost 2 a month! There were 4 off-grid CLs this month in the January magazine which closed!

Hi John , and a Happy New Year to you. It’s been a good year as far as membership of CAMOGG has gone. 12,500 members now but the CAMC CL’s are disappearing virtually before our eyes. It’s not just Off Grid sites but EHU sites too- Why? Something has to be done to reverse this trend and I think encouraging people to look at the new technologies and go Off Grid is a big step to stopping these wonderful little Off grid  sites from giving up and closing.  Again, thanks for all you do. 2021 I’m sure will bring more opportunities to introduce ourselves to more Caravanners and Motorhomers who are looking for ways of reducing costs or just wanting to do things a little differently!

It is a worry that we are losing so may CLs cry
Our club should encourage sites to start as an Off-Grid CL its a good way and with little outlay to start a CL. A lot of existing CLs may have started this way and over time added other facilities.
Certain members may want more and more facilities but it seems more also want less and cheaper because they can be more independent. They just need somewhere to park! - As we can see in posts in CAMOGG
There is a great series of Off-Grid YouTube mini-series Videos made by Dave Thompson’s - DTSquared Channel on Youtube
    Episode 1 “OFF-GRID#1 - CAMOGG Facebook group.”
Episode 2 “Electrical Theory Made Easy”
Episode 3 “ALLPOWERS 372Wh Portable Solar Generator Demo”
Episode 4 “CALCULATE YOUR OFF-GRID POWER USAGE” including a spreadsheet to help you!

According to CAMC webpage, EHU is to be installed at Lily Cottage during the early part of this year. Judging by the price (£17) I would guess that reflects the upgrade.

Are there CLs here in UK which have hook ups installed but offer customers the choice of whether to use them or not?  I went to many CL type sites overseas for many years and was always offered that choice - and paid the higher or the lower rate. Choice is good.

There are some EuroT. We booked a new CL last year that gave you the option, no bollards, but you could plug into various outdoor electrical sockets using a three pin adaptor. We always carry adaptor, but they were provided if required. Cost difference was £3 per night, so either £12 or £15, and those prices applied in peak season, so very attractive. We loved it, voted it best CL we had used for a good while. Electrics are all checked out by the way, perfectly safe. But it was the freedom to pitch up anywhere, either on HS area, or lovely paddock grass that we enjoyed. No “too close” neighbours here. We went back another two times it was so good. Will be going this year as well if we can.

In my experience with CLs (and CSs) it’s fairly common to be asked if you want electricity at the time of booking. No assumptions made.

    That sounds good sense., Bill.

If I were self contained in the way some people are I would just phone a CL of my own choosing and have a conversation on these lines……”I see your price is £16 with an EHU included., which I don’t really need.  Can you please do it for £13 if I don’t burn your electricity”

But perhaps the purists only want to be on totally non electric CLs with like minded people who share their beliefs. So they compile their lists.

Great news after years of members asking, it seems the Club website CL search has had a “No electric hook-ups” icon added to allow members to filter off-grid sites.

I will still keep our map & sheet up to date though as I think it is simpler to see all on a map or filter the spreadsheet.
