i much prefer CMC sites in general.  I think CCC is too strict and have lost a number of deposits over the years.  I certainly don't think the new system is better than December booking for many of the reason highlighted, how do you book Christmas & New Year? Easter this year would have been a problem. Under the present system it is possible to book every weekend through the year, cancel them the Wednesday before and never move your van out of storage. A deposit would reduce that, transferable to another site if you changed your plans..

I think this rolling system is just a sneaky system to hide excessive  price increases and to extend the periods of the peak seasons, hoping that in the mad rush to book a pitch certain (many?) members won't notice the additional cost compared to this year. The "Oh there's a pitch free on that honeypot site, must book it" syndrome.

You might has well book well in advance does not cost anything, and keep your options open, brilliant idea from the CMC.

5% increase for Baltic Wharf next Easter, over this year. Wonder if the 2 indices will reflect that?

There was a 67% uplift from 3 weeks prior, a lower season, this year too.

We go at Easter to mark the anniversary of the passing of father in law, so not a case of the syndrome you describe, something a bit more respectful.

There are a couple of CLs we use if we can't get into BW at £14 & £17, those are fixed year round fees and the £14 is always busy.

Next Easter is the highest fee we will have paid in our caravanning experience, or MH for 9 years before that.

The best place to look for updates on bookings is in What's On, News.

well got on at 8.45 and was told it would be 15 minutes a few seconds  and I was number 433, a few seconds later it was four minutes and actual time was 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

    Well that's May 2019 booked!

Did seem to be a bit of a glitch. I got to the front of the queue and it redirected me to server not responding. However, got back in within a minute or so and BH bookings made.😀 Not sure how popular Baltic Wharf will be though, as of course it could well be closed. We have put it at the start of our tour, so will just go away later if that happens.

I logged on at 8.30 and there were already 138 people in queue ahead of me- even though the communications messages from the club said you can only book at 8.45 so surely the queue should start then?

got online to book half term, but unfortunately the club decided to cut off at Friday 31 May so we could not book the weekend of half term on the same site until they open June and we might get lucky.

I thought members had asked the club to open key dates crossing over months like the May/June half term and summer holidays July/August. Please please open up July with August otherwise some many families that go away after schools end 20 July for 2 weeks will not be possible. That's a huge shame.

We have asked but there has been no reply to date. A shame really as it should be so easy and obvious why it's needed

I know what you mean - it's sad isn't it, that that 'frenzy feeling' has gone? That satisfied smugness when you made a booking all gonefrown

I think Ro said July/August would be released together. I guess they haven’t got their heads round other potential overlap months yet. December/January is another as well as May/June and Easter being floating may involve both March/April. It’s possible the May Day Bank Hol could have a bit of April in the weekend as well. Nearly forgot August Bank Hol which could have a bit of September in the mix

    Complicated this, isn’t it? undecided

I even got booked onto Baltic Wharf for the last four nights of January. No problems.

If you are not tied to particular dates, which I am not, then it seems easy now laughing

I don't think BW is going as fast as it used to. It is after all now living on borrowed time and we won't know if we have our pitch next May until the middle of February.

I have just booked a service pitch at Knaresborough for a week in late April next year, I like to get a few days in before caravan service.  Why should I need to book so soon? If I had waited until later in year the weekend would gone leaving only a few days available. Caravanning is supposed to be free and easy, is the CMC are turning themselves into a major holiday company, what happened to watching Countryfile for the weather before deciding which way to go? Dare I say the CMC is moving more towards motorhomes which are more flexible, few days here and move on, rather than families with caravans who come for a week or more to one site.

I think that’s a terrific advantage being able to secure your pitch so early. You must be over the moon to be able to do it.

Don't forget that it’s quite permissible to cancel or amend your booking providing you do it at least 72 hours prior to 1200 on the day of your due arrival. What freedom that gives us. coolsmile

Incidentally, MH or caravan, a week or a single night, it makes no difference at all. If a site's full, it's full.

I think that the club should go to a 5 yr rolling programme from a date somewhere around the 7th of February ( being well away from any holidays), then everyone who wanted to would be able to book over those awkward holiday weekends & school holidays that fall over 2 consecutive months. However I also think that there'd still be some who would complain about not getting a pitch even then.wink

I think you've answered your own question there?

what happened to watching Countryfile for the weather before deciding which way to go?

I think you can actually still do that as there are plenty of non club sites that will have plenty of space, you are talking as if the club is the only option, of course if it is for you (and nothing wrong with that btw +1) then because club sites are so popular you'll just have to book early. As TW says you can book with no deposit and change your mind up to 72 hours before and I agree with TW that this a big plus point for the club. Also if you change your mind within 72 hours then providing you go to another club site there is no penalty. Use the late availability and if countryfile shows good go for it?

On other threads there are sites with £50 non refundable deposits, or £10 per night losable deposits and one month cancellations periods. The club with it's very flexible approach is probably much better for you than you think.

And no I don't think the club is moving towards MH at all, just outfits

If you are talking about May 2019, next year's availability can’t be released until the race days are known as that affects arrival and departures at the site.

Rowena has said that racecourse sites will have their bookings opened up later.

This new booking system is working well. Thats the second month have been able to book what we want when we want.

Certainly helps us new adventurers with families and school age kids to align school calendars and the CAMC sites for our time valuable breaks.

Serviced pitch at Black Knowl Whitsun BH weekend booked.

Must be getting old as have learned to play the system to best advantage, every day is a skool day cool

Wonder how many are going to be disappointed in December when the old frenzy day isn't such a big deal as it'll only be for the following December foot-in-mouth

Everyone will get used it, I never think about the other club which has been running this system for quite a while now. The only thing I've learnt is that certain sites book earlier than others so if you really want something a year ahead it's best to get on line and start checking as early as possible although often  a site won't fill up for several months. I don't know how many people really want  a site a whole year ahead but it's probably less than imagined. Hopefully after this first year the club will improve the experience for all and find the best way to run it.
