Sitting on a club site still raining after 24 hours, yet still it seems members cannot manuverer their cars to aviod damaging the sodden grass. What is wrong with people, have they no brain engaged as to the extent of damage caused by their could not care less attitude. Heaven help what they do with the caravan or M/H hooked up.

Serves them right if they get stuck but then it would be everyone eyes fault.

It's so easy to provide a link Moulesy. wink

As far as damaging the grass is concerned it is antisocial, is selfish and displays a complete lack of driving skills.

The worst cases of poor driving on and approaching camp sites, are those who do not posses the knowledge and skills to reverse their caravan outfits. IMO if they cannot reverse an outfit they should not be driving with a van on the back.-----  end of..

    surprised

    maybe it's the wardens driving?

Give W&J a break, it's raining and there is obviously nothing else for them to do except look round the site for something to write about?

I assume it's not an all grass site btw?

While I agree to an extent re reversing skills .... or lack of, site lay out doesn't help. When pitching on the pitch we're on at the moment, it'd have been impossible had I not been able to use the empty pitch opposite me. 43' doesn't go into a 10' wide access road. And again, site layout means that if my caravan & awning fills 2/3rds (& a bit) of the pitch, it leaves very little space for my car so catching the corner of the grass is inevitable.

That’s a lot of the problem, MM. Many sites were designed for a Ford Escort towing a Sprite 400.

Indeed not always avoidable without a motormover unless like W&J one is capable of platting sawdust

Have you asked these people why their driving standard is so poor ???, or maybe ,just maybe get on with your holiday and leave the running of the site to the wardens ........

Thought that was a Cornish art, Tinwheeler. Good to see your in top form rather than having a constructive debate about irresponsible damage to our club asserts. Happy Easter anyway 🤣

The title of the thread has been amended

    (a) to reflect the possibility that the OP is on a site which admits non-members

    and

    (b)  it's now more polite

I take it you and bad weather are not a good mix W&J? Bored, perhaps? Wishing you had stayed at home perhaps? Considering your stay a waste of good money? laughing

You should try the new serviced pitches at at Seacroft....jockey wheel touches edge of road (road is slightly over axle wide)...fortunately the layout planners made the area a gravel quarry...looks lovely !!!

There's nought  wrong with a Sprite 400 and a Ford Escort.  -- The sprite 400 was our first caravan and I towed it with a company Ford Escort.   We had great holidays with our two children. No motor movers in those days, people knew how to reverse.

Today is my day as is all the other days of my life.  TW  --- Caravanning equipment  has moved on but the driving skills involving towing requirements are exactly the same.  If someone can't reverse their outfit don't take it on the road. There are numerous situations when it could be necessary to reverse an outfit, if the driver is incapable he/she is a menace.

But caravan's like CI Sprite's weren't as heavy and were more easily pushed by hand in to position.wink
