wonder why club sites are so popular then?
I mean that's the bottom line isn't it? The club has a product that people want, and this must upset some who keep asking for these changes and big or small ideas, that keeps on selling year by year?

Anybody using CMC capsites have to assume that the figures on availability are accurate. The CMC have not published any figures to support the fact that pitches are being booked and people are not turning up.
Rather than assuming that the figures are wrong just because occasionally there is an unused pitch on any site, accept that there could be a good reason for that. It may be that there has been an illness or a mechanical breakdown or the pitch is being held for one of the Warden's friends to use. there are many reasons why not all pitches are populated all the time.
Have some faith in the booking system, it's not perfect, but works well most of the time.

I mean what do prices for awnings or dogs have to do with this thread?

It would matter not a jot, me thinks, what booking system is in place, popular sites will always remain popular. Having deposits, or whatever, will not increase the number of pitches on a site! When all said and done the present system apparently does work across the C&MC network of sites and is possibly seen as fair in many folks eyes.

Last early May bank hol I was away in my m/h in Yorkshire when I heard from my niece early in the morning that my 89 yr old sister in West Cornwall had been taken into hosp gravely ill. I set off straight away on a 400 mile drive. I phoned a CAMC site en route (which was shown as fully booked on the website) under great stress and explained. The lovely lady said that they were fully booked but to call in when I arrived and she would see what could be done. She phoned me back an hour later to tell me that she'd spoken to a couple of nearby sites (under her own initiative) who assured her that they would find room if necessary. I arrived at the site about 9pm. and she said someone had paid for that night but had left early so a pitch was available. I got to the hosp at 9.45pm and my sister died at 11. The warden had left the gates unlocked for me and found room for the 3 nights following which enabled me to deal with formalities. Bless her.

"Looking to book for 2019? Right now, you can book up to and including 31 March 2019. We've changed the way we put UK Club site pitches on sale so you can now book up to a year ahead, all year round. An ideal time to book an early break next year at Rowntree Park or Baltic Wharf (if it's still open?).
I should add, as I've just been looking, that you might need to wait for each month to clear, some pages look full at first glance if you're using the forward arrow.

Booked our usual January, February & early March holidays at Chester and York without having to wait until August and do not expect to cancel any although having been cancelled twice and evacuated twice at Rowntree Park who knows.
Maybe we'll get lucky like earlier this month and arrive and depart on a lovely day but be on a two third empty site for much of our stay because of the snow. It did not bother us at all other than the lack of arrivals and departures was a unique experience at RP.
I did not think I would say this but I think it's an improvement on the old booking system. However I do think that cancellations may increase.

must admit looking forward to booking May 2019 in a few weeks. It will be interesting to see if the two May BH get booked up as quickly as on non-Frenzy day? Soon find out.
