Window damage caused by caravan covers
Hello
Could anyone suggest anything to remove scuff marks from my caravan windows
I fitted a new Specialized cover to my Lunar van when we removed it today we noticed some scuff marks to the windows. The cover has only been on the van since Christmas good job it has not been on all winter. We have used cheaper covers on previous vans with no problems.Has anyone else had problems with these covers. We won`t be using it anymore. We have a towing cover which is great.

We've used a cheap and cheerful cover for about ten years, with no window damage whatsoever. I haven't heard about Specialized Covers causing this sort of damage. Are you sure it wasn't caused, as in the above post, by your towing cover and you didn't notice when you last put the full cover on the van?
You could try Fenwicks Windowize to see if it actually does what it says in the Adverts.

With Specialised Covers, you usually get a length of material to cover all the windows before fitting the cover. It isn't so much the cover scratching the windows, rather dust getting underneath the cover and wind chafing the material against the window, hence the supplied material. It is vital to ensure the windows are spotlessly clean before fitting a cover, regardless of make. I have had 4 Specialised Covers on different caravans over the years, and not had any problems at all.As for the marks on your windows, Windowize and Brasso will do the trick admirably.

I have got sever damage to all my windows on a 2017 Elddis Crusader. It was clean and no grit on the cover.
The Caravan Club Insurance have advised that it is not covered by the policy - it wasn't a "one-off event"
Specialised Covers want evidence but it is impossible to take pictures of reflective caravan windows.
How many other caravans have been damaged by the so-called non-scratch Specialised Caravan covers?
Any advice or anyone else with problems?

Specialised Covers say that you should not need the underneath protection unless its really dusty. The material is scratch resistant!

Isn't clingfilm supposed to be detrimental to acrylic windows?

Hi, I have used cling film on my lunar delta windows for a couple of years with NO damage...I have not used cling film on my new Swift Challenger for the reasons above (also dealer advised not to use cling film on the new Swift windows) but it was OK on my 2009 Lunar windows.
Cheers
